Valhalla 6, El Capitan 0 – ETHAN MOLTER, a senior, scored two goals and added an assist.
Other goals came from seniors CARTER BOUCEK, ADIL AZAR and GEORGE MENDOZA,
Steele Canyon 1, Lincoln 0 – The Cougars beat the Hornets.

Friday

CHRISTIAN 1, RANCHO BUENA VISTA 1 – The Patriots earned a draw in their season opener in the north county on Saturday.

Christian figures to be in the mix for a playoff spot in Division II this season.

MOUNTAIN EMPIRE 9, RIVER VALLEY 3 – Junior PAULO GUTIERREZ and senior SEBASTIAN CHAIT both scored four goals in the RedHawks’ win over the Leopards.

Junior JOSIAH HULL scored two goals for River Valley, which trailed 4-1 at halftime.

The RedHawks should be in the mix for a playoff berth this season in Division IV.

OCEAN VIEW CHRISTIAN 5, FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 3 – Knights junior JEREMY MAYER had a goal and an assist but Foothills Christian dropped its opener.

After a shaky first half, FCHS outscored OVCHS, 2-0, in the second half.

Freshman ELIJAH MORR turned in an outstanding effort for Foothills Christian.

Junior KEVIN HELFERS shut out Ocean View in the second half in goal.

Foothills Christian, a likely top playoff contender in Division V this season, will face Guajome Park Academy next up on Tuesday.

Thursday

EL CAPITAN 9, RIVER VALLEY 0 – The Vaqueros won the battle of Lakeside over the neighboring Leopards.

The Vaqueros, sure to be a contender in Division III this season, face to Valhalla on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The Norsemen will be playing their opener.

Despite the lopsided loss in their opener, the Leopards could compete for a section title in Division V this season.

HIGH TECH SAN DIEGO 5, MOUNT MIGUEL 2 – The host Matadors dropped their season opener as High Tech SD improved to 2-0.

The Matadors,  a possible playoff contender in Division V this season, will face Health Sciences next.

HOOVER 4, EL CAJON VALLEY 1 – The Braves tied the Cards in the second half, 1-all, but dropped their opener.
