Wolf Pack feast on Eagles, then dash

SANTEE – The West Hills Wolf Pack went to work against the Southwest Eagles on Friday night.
Then, after a terrific start, several of the starters got the rest of the night off in a 34-14 win.
“We got off to a good start and then tried to get our guys off the field,” West Hills head coach CASEY ASH said.
Senior JAKE MAHEU rushed for a pair of touchdowns and fellow senior KOLE KLINGERMAN hauled in five passes, including a touchdown.
“Kole had a nice game,” Ash said. “He handled all of the kicking duties (4-for-5 PATs) in addition to playing offense and defense.
Senior GERARDO HERNANDEZ was 4-for-4 passing for 118 yards, while sophomore BRADEN OBERG was 4-for-8 through the air for 52 yards.
“Each threw a touchdown,” Ash added. “Each had moments to learn from.”
Junior BRENDAN GREEN rushed for 40 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown for West Hills
Wolf Pack senior STEVEN CRISTINI had 142 all-purpose yards, including a 46-yard run, a 37-yard kickoff return, a 26-yard punt return and an 18-yard reception.
Senior KIP KLINGERMAN also caught one of the TD strikes, from 11 yards out.
The Wolf Pack defense held the shutout until the midway point of the fourth quarter.
West Hills has won the last two meetings by 54-10.
After the game, the team gathered at a Santee restaurant for the local high school football show segment.
Next week, West Hills will host Valhalla in an intriguing Grossmont Conference matchup of 1-0 teams.
