HOOKS 8, LONG BOARDERS 4 – Jim Jarvis hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to help the SDL Hooks defeat the SDL Long Boarders, 8-4, at Christian High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Jarvis, out of Clairemont High, hit .267 in 15 appearances as a freshman for the University of Alabama this past season. His shot gave his club a 5-2 lead.

It was the first home run in six SDL league games played so far at the Patriots’ field.

University of San Diego Torero Tora Otsuka, the son of former major league Akinori Otsuka, drove in a pair of runs for the Hooks in the third inning.

Right-hander Scott Wood, out of Grossmont High, pitched two innings for the Hooks (2-0).

Graham Cartwright (MIT) earned the win with two scoreless innings, striking out two.

JETS 9, WAVERIDERS 0 – Former Grossmont Foothiller Vito Fowler (Hope International University) knocked in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the second inning, as the SDL Jets (1-1) handed the SDL Waveriders their second straight shutout defeat.

Thirteen strikeouts from the Jets pitching staff, along with productive work at the plate, paved the way for a 9-0 win over the Waveriders Wednesday at Christian High School.

Erik Quinzon had a two-run double for the Jets.

University of San Diego pitcher Jack Dolak (St. Augustine) struck out five in three innings of work for the Jets.

Cal-bound Paulshawn Pasqualotto got the win, striking out four over three innings.
