A revives of ballgames on Monday (Mar. 3), when most of the Grossmont Conference schools made season debuts, including standout efforts on offense by ballplayers from Mount Miguel and Grossmont high schools:
Mount Miguel 13, At Castle Park 5 – East County’s early slugging leader is Matadors senior Easton Sanchez, who went 3-fore-5 with two doubles and a triple, good for 5 RBI… Down 4-0, Mount Miguel score 5 in the 5th, then 8 in the 7th, finishing with 18 total hits… Also collecting three hits were seniors Pierson Williams and Braydon Cardwell, plus frosh Emilo Lopez… Alfredo Rodriguez and Williams each had 2 RBI.
Grossmont 10, Vista 1 – At Fletcher Hills, the varsity debut by second baseman Chris “Jr.” Jacques will be one to remember: a home run and 6 RBI.
Grossmont built an 8-0 cushion through three innings to paste the Panthers… Senior pitcher Jacob Holman struck out seven Vista batters over his five innings to gain the victory… The bullpedn of Jake Richard and Calvin Rivero fired shutout ball on just one hit.

Christian 12, at San Diego HS 3 – At Downtown San Diego, Christian posted multple runs in five of the club’s seven trips to the plate to crumcj the Cavers… Chase Togerson posted three RBI on three hits, including a double… Benji Molina belted a 2-run triple… Both are juniors.
Helix 4, Westview 4 – At Del Sur, the Highlanders posted a 4-0 lead, then hung on to top the Wolverines… Starting picther Sean Sherrod fired four shutout innings to collect the victory, then the back part of the bullpen — Elijah Martinez (hold) and Antoin Simpson (save) closed with 2.1 frames of shutout ball… The lead came on a 2-run homer by Alex Carbajal in the 4th
West Hills 4, Madison 3 – At Wolf Pack Park, West Hills scored a walk-off winner when Devin Woods surprised the Madison infield by dropping s bunt don the third-base line on a 3-1 pitch with one down, allowing Loet Wong to register yhe game-winning run…
The Warhawks took a 3-1 lead before the Wolf Pack pulled even in the 5th… Caarson-Kai Lewis was featured in the rally, collecting one ofg his two hits for an RBI, then scoring the game-inning run. Lewis, the final of threepitchers, also collected the victory
Coronado 6, at Monte Vista 1 – Coronado 6, Monte Vista 1 – At Spring Valley, the Islanders mounted a 5-0 through two innings to win. The Coronado pitcher(s) (not listed) fired a 1-hitter… The Monarchs avoid the shutout on an RBI without a basehit by freshman Diego Vega.
Santa Fe Christian 3, Valhalla 2 – At Solana Beach, every time Valhalla scored, SFC answered… Both sides traded runs in the 1st, but when the Norsemen scored in the 4th, the host Eagles scored twice then hanged to win… the winning rally sophomore Kyle Plasman slug his second double onthe day to tie the game, then scored the go-ahead run on a Jackson Noonan double.Fe Christian 3, Valhalla 2
LJCDS 8, El Capitan 2 – In the Golden Triangle, Torreys senior Jackson Norum slugged a 3-run homer in the first, part of a 54 RBI performance ot stop the visiting Vaqueros. –
University City 5, – At Steele Canyon 1 – Tied at 1-1, University City scored four times in the 7th, highlighted by a two-run double by seior Josh Kaplan… For the Cougars, senior outfielder Caden Davey belted an RBI double in the 5th, then UC tied it in the 6th… Steele Canyon senior starting pitcher Hunter Haase tossed 2-hit ball over his 5 innings. striking out 8 Centurions.
