Christian will serve as home team on Monday and Friday; Madison gets the middle ballgame on Wednesday; all start at 4 p.m.

Game stuff

Xander Molina belted a pair of home runs, while Braedwn Casey slugged another, helping Christian (17-7-1 overall) score four times in the third inning for a 5-0 lead, but it was “building a snowball” — scoring 8 times — in the fifth which chilled the Chieftains.

Molina established a season-high by recording four RBI (Previously, he had three on three occasions), Molina batted 3-for-4 to raise his season average above the .300 plateau to .311.

Meanwhile, Casey was joined by Benji Molina and Caleb Brierley with two RBI each.

Walker Kane struck out four Clairemont batters over six innings to earn the victory.

Western League
Patrick Henry 2, Coronado 0
Along the Silver Strand, Coronado: Utilizing a “bullpen” game, Patrick Henry intentionally utilized four pitchers, which combined to fire a three-hit shutout at Coronado, 2-0, in Western League action Friday, May 8, at Silver Strand Elementary School.

The host Islanders also yielded just three hits, but the Pats combined theirs to score single runs in the second and third innings.

A two-out, infield error allowed Jayden Goldman to waltz home third to open the scoring.

An inning later, Parks Kronk-Hawley grounded an RBI single up the middle, chasing home Alex Mestman, who beat the throw to homeplate.

Pitching two frames each (in order) were Bady Gunn, Eli Brum and Lukas Waite.

Grum registered all six of his outs on strikes, while Waite posted four Ks. Waite retired a;; six Coronado batters. With the seventh-inning save going to Sal Gagliano.

Patrick Henry (18-7 overall) can capture the Western League title outright by sweeping next week’s two-game series against Point Loma. If they drop one game, they can still gain a co-title with either the Pointers or Cathedral Catholic.

Point Loma would’ve taken the title outright, except they were upset by University City, 3-2, on Friday.

Standings: Patrick Henry 7-1, Cathedral Catholic 6-2, Point Loma 5-3, University City 4-4, St. Augustine 2-6, Coronado 0-8.

Avocado League

Westview 11, Ramona 3
At Del Sur: Ramona dropped the rubber game in this three-game set, but after winning on Wednesday, the chance of Westview sharing the Avocado League title is next to nil.

Despite allowing three runs, Wolverines pitchers yielded just six hits, two by the Dawgs’ James Knowd.

Stangings: Poway 13-1, Westview 12-2, Ramona 7-6, Vista 4-9, Fallbrook 3-10, Valley Center 0-12.
