GROSSMONT COLLEGE
Palomar shows Griffins championship game
EastCountySports.com
SAN MARCOS - Kacie Kostlan and Lindsay Duringer scored 16 points
apiece to help Palomar clinch no less than a share of the Pacific
Coast Conference championship with a 73-50 rout of visiting Grossmont
Wednesday night (Feb. 18).
The Comets (15-9, 9-0) need a win at Imperial Valley (18-6, 8-1)
on Saturday (Feb. 21) to claim exclusive rights to the conference
crown. If IVC wins, the PCC will have co-champions.
The Griffins (10-13, 3-6) put up a stout effort for the first
nine minutes, trailing the Comets only 24-20. But that's when
Palomar turned on the jets to lead 46-29 by the close of the
opening half.
STEPHANIE SCHULER led the Griffins with 13 points, the
majority coming off a trio of 3-pointers. JESSICA CABLE racked
up 12 points, 5 assists and 7 rebounds, while PATRICE BURNLEY
added 10 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. DENISE BENNETT contributed
7 rebounds for Grossmont.
Grossmont shot a mediocre 30 percent (17 for 56), while turning
the ball over 28 times.
The Griffins conclude the season on Saturday night (Feb. 21)
at Southwestern in a 7 p.m. contest.

victory

EL CAJON - PATRICE BURNLEY scored 25 points, LA'QUEENA SHENAULT
added 14 points and JESSICA CABLE cashed in 13 points and handed
out 7 assists Saturday (Feb. 14) as Grossmont College clubbed
Cuyamaca 70-44 in a Pacific Coast Conference game that was anything
but a sweetheart of a deal.
Leading 32-25 at intermission, the Griffins (10-12, 3-5) broke
the game open in the second half and cruised home with the easy
victory.
"Things were just clicking for us tonight," said Grossmont
coach KAREN CAIRES. "Cable made some nice passes. And we
were able to let everybody play."
Cuyamaca (4-15, 0-8) reported no information.
The Griffins conclude the season with road games at Palomar (Wednesday,
Feb. 18) and at Southwestern (Feb. 21). Both games tip off at
7 p.m.

Mesa reverses Griffins' early margin and
then some
EastCountySports.com
SAN DIEGO - After zipping out to an early 9-point lead in Wednesday's
(Feb. 11) Pacific Coast Conference contest at San Diego Mesa,
the Grossmont College Griffins saw the wheels come off as they
fell to the host Olympians 74-66.
It was the 4th straight loss for the Griffins (9-12, 2-5), who
edged Mesa 62-61 in then opening round of PCC play.
Mesa's pressure took its toll on the Griffins, who fell behind
by 25 points with 10 minutes left in the game.
"We made a nice comeback, but we were in too deep a hole,"
Grossmont coach KAREN CAIRES said.
PATRICE BURNLEY led Grossmont with 26 points - 12 coming from
long distance. STEPHANIE SCHULER added 21 points, including a
trio of 3-pointers. Grossmont freshman JESSICA CABLE was held
to a season-low 5 points.

Revised EL CAJON - Grossmont College
dropped its third straight Pacific Coast Conference decision
Saturday night (Feb. 7), falling to the Imperial Valley College
Arabs 77-50. The Griffins (9-11, 2-4) remain in fourth place
in the PCC. The Grossmont coaches provided no other information.

Southwestern gets physical as Grossmont
falls short of players, in game
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - JESSICA CABLE (18 points), PATRICE BURNLEY (14 points)
and STEPHANIE SCHULER (14 points) provided the host Grossmont
Griffins with plenty of offense Saturday night (Jan. 31), but
it wasn't enough to deny Southwestern a 70-63 Pacific Coast Conference
victory.
"It was a very physical game," said Cable, a Grossmont
freshman. "The refs let us play, for the most part."
However, according to Grossmont sports information director GARY
MELLINGER, the Griffins, who began the game with 7 players on
their roster, had only four on the floor for the final 15 seconds.
Three had fouled out.
The Griffins (9-10, 2-3) trailed the Jaguars (12-8, 3-2) by only
4 points when the third Grossmont player was disqualified by
fouls.
Next up for the Griffins is a Saturday (Feb. 7) home game against
Imperial Valley at 7 p.m.

Palomar shines in big win over Griffins
to remain unbeaten
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - Grossmont College's bid for a possible Pacific Coast
Conference basketball championship will likely have to be put
on hold for a year or two. The visiting Palomar Comets proved
that they are still the supreme team in the PCC as they polished
off Grossmont 88-69 on Wednesday night (Jan. 28).
Freshman JESSICA CABLE canned 26 points - half of which came
on 13-for-13 free throw shooting - to lead the Griffins (9-9,
2-2). PATRICE BURNLEY, the PCC Player of the Week, added 17 points,
hitting one trey and netting all 4 of her free throw shots.
"I am pleased by how hard our girls played," Grossmont
coach KAREN CAIRES said. "And we had some good moments,
like hitting 20 of 25 free throws. But Palomar had too much size
and depth."
The Comets (10-9, 4-0) skated to an early 13-7 lead and continued
on for a 40-27 advantage by halftime. Grossmont never posed a
serious threat in the final 20 minutes.

Griffins keep pace near top of table with
30-point win over district rival Coyotes
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - One of the goals Grossmont College coach KAREN CAIRES
set for her team this season is to have four players reach double
scoring digits each and every game. The Griffins met that goal
Saturday night (Jan. 24) as they crushed host Cuyamaca College
71-41 in a Pacific Coast Conference contest.
JESSICA CABLE cranked in 19 points to lead the way for the Griffins
(9-8, 2-1) who are only one game behind PCC co-leaders Palomar
(3-0, 9-9) and Imperial Valley (12-5, 3-0).
PATRICE BURNLEY (15 points), LA'QUEENA SHENAULT (13), and STEPHANIE
SCHULER (12) also reached double figures for the Griffins at
Cuyamaca. CHELSEA KUHN added 8 points. Cable and Schuler each
canned a pair of 3-pointers.
Grossmont zipped in front 41-19 by the end of the first half
and then coasted home with the victory.
"It wasn't a pretty game," Caires said. "Really,
what we were trying to do was get ready for Palomar (Wednesday-Jan.
28 at Grossmont, 7 p.m.). We were working on different things."
SHANNON HENSLEY paced Cuyamaca (4-10, 0-3) with 14 points, while
MEOSHA JEFFERSON added 10.
The Coyotes go after their first conference win Wednesday (Jan.
28) when they travel to Imperial Valley for a 7 p.m. contest.

Burnley singes Mesa in final minute as
Griffins rally to win by one
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - San Diego Mesa predicated its defense on stopping
Grossmont's JESSICA CABLE in Wednesday night's (Jan. 21) Pacific
Coast Conference game. The Olympians managed to slow down the
Griffin freshman, who then served as a valuable decoy, allowing
Grossmont to pull out a 62-61 victory over the visiting Olympians.
"I know Jess was frustrated because they were doubling on
her," Grossmont coach KAREN CAIRES said of Cable, who settled
for 13 points. "But Mesa's focus on her allowed us to attack
them in other places."
Never was that more evident than in the final 49 seconds when
Grossmont's PATRICE BURNLEY scored seven consecutive points to
wipe out a 61-55 Mesa lead.
Burnley, who finished with 18 points, nailed a 3-pointer and
followed that up with a driving lay-up to shave Mesa's edge to
61-60.
Seconds later, Burnley made a second trip through the key. There
was a collision.
"Mesa collapsed too late, so the officials called a blocking
foul," Caires said.
Burnley then beat the Olympians by sinking two free throws with
0:05 remaining.
"I'm sure they thought we were going to Jess for the final
shot," Caires said. "And she did a good job of keeping
their attention, while Burnley attacked the basket."
STEPHANIE SCHULER added 12 points - 9 coming on 3-balls - while
LA' QUEENA SHENAULT contributed nine points.
"This was a big win for us," said Caires after the
Griffins leveled their conference (1-1) and overall (8-8) ledgers.
Next up is an intradistrict engagement at Cuyamaca Saturday (Jan.
24) at 7 p.m.

Griffins lead at half of conference opener,
fall to IVC
EastCountySports.com
IMPERIAL - JESSICA CABLE scored 20 points and PATRICE BURNLEY
punched in 19 more, but it wasn't enough as the visiting Grossmont
College Griffins dropped their Pacific Coast Conference season
opener Saturday (Jan. 17) at Imperial Valley, 76-65.
The Griffins (7-8, 0-1) gained a 41-39 halftime lead, but then
saw their offense go stagnant in the final 20 minutes.
"We just stopped doing the things that gave us the lead
in the first half," Grossmont coach KAREN CAIRES said. "We
stopped making the crisp passes and we couldn't get any of our
shots to fall."

Griffins fall short on boards to drop final
conference tune-up by deuce
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - Dropping a full gear to a slow, methodical style of
play, Cerro Coso College allowed its size advantage to take control
of Grossmont College's final tune-up prior to the opening of
Pacific Coast Conference play, grinding to a 52-50 victory over
the Griffins Friday (Jan. 9) at Grossmont.
Fredrica Morgan paced the Coyotes (8-4) from Ridgecrest with
11 points and 22 rebounds, including 12 offensive boards, to
give the visitors extra opportunities en route to mounting an
11-point lead in the first half. However, when the 6-foot-2 center
twisted an ankle and sat out the final two minutes, the Griffins
had a chance to force overtime.
"We just needed one more possession," said Grossmont
coach KAREN CAIRES. "But we just didn't get it."
On defense, the Griffins played well, but when it came down to
the final seconds, there were just four team fouls against the
hosts, so Cerro Coso was able to run off part of the remaining
19 seconds before being forced to the foul line. That's where
Brittany Throckmorton scored her only points of the ballgame
with 7.9 seconds left to push the lead to four and deny Grossmont
from tying the contest.
Freshman forward CHELSEA KUHN had a significant hand in the rally,
completing a double-double by finishing with 10 points and 10
boards.
"We finally got to running our offense with some good ball
movement and getting the ball to the post," noted Kuhn,
a native from Paso Robles. "Then we sometimes reversed the
ball and got good shots."
STEPHANIE SCHULER scored 10 of her Grossmont-leading 15 points
in the second half to cut the lead as low as 35-32, then to 50-48
following the final of Schuler's trio of 3-balls with 18.9 seconds
remaining.
Cerro Coso proved too difficult to overcome due greatly to a
56-39 rebound advantage.
"They are a slow tempo team, while we are a medium tempo
team," added JESSICA CABLE, the Griffins' scoring leader
who was held to 12 points by the bigger and more physical Coyotes.
"They slowed it down and led their big girls just bang inside."
Grossmont opens the conference season Saturday (Jan. 17), traveling
to Imperial Valley for a 5 p.m. contest.

Cubs open floor to open big lead against
Griffins
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - Concerned with Grossmont College's
ability to rebound, Los Angeles City College decided the best
way to defeat the Griffins was to beat them down the floor. The
Cubs utilized the transition game to score their opening nine
baskets, all on lay-ups, to build a 21-point halftime lead, racing
to an 80-59 non-conference decision.
"The transition game just killed us.
We couldn't stop them no matter what we did to adjust,"
said Griffins coach KAREN CAIRES. "The whole game was decided
in the first 10 minutes."
Both teams made numerous adjustments after
watching each other - but not meeting - during last December's
Grossmont Holiday Classic. So when LACC returned to San Diego,
the half-court offense was scrapped by pushing the ball up court,
as the Cubs (8-8) shot over 50 percent (36-for-70) for the first
time all season.
Forward Tiesha Maddox led the way with
20 points and 17 rebounds, overcoming the foul trouble which
plagued her frontline teammates. Jaime Robertson added 14 point,
while Slovakia native Petra Puchelova had 11 points and seven
assists.
Grossmont played even with LACC in the
second half, when JESSICA CABLE collected 17 of her game-high
25 points, but the Griffins (7-6) couldn't overcome a deficit
which reached 25 points (57-32) early in the second half.
Cable also grabbed 13 boards, while also
leading the Griffins in steals (7), assists (5) and blocked shots.
CHELSEA KUHN added 9 points and 12 boards.
Grossmont's next game is on Friday (Jan.
9) with its final tuneup before entering Pacific Coast Conference
play, hosting Cerro Coso at a special, early 5 p.m. start.

Griffins rally against Chokers behind Cable's
21 free throws
16th Annual Grossmont Holiday Classic
Grossmont 72, Grays Harbor (Wash.) 67
East County Sports.com
EL CAJON - Earlier in the month, Grossmont College forward JESSICA
CABLE eclipsed one of the oldest records in Griffins history
by going 24-for-34 at the foul line in a single game. In Tuesday's
(Dec. 30) intersectional contest with visiting Grays Harbor,
Cable nearly broke the standard again.
In a tough, physical affair, Cable scored 21 of her 27 points
on free throws, helping the Griffins (7-5) rally past the Chokers
- yes, that's really their nickname -- of Aberdeen, Wash., 72-67.
The freshman went to the line for 29 total attempts, including
an astounding 15 times in the first half.
The Griffins, playing their third game in as many days, were
predictably sluggish out of the gate, as only point guard PATRICE
BURNLEY was able to score over the first five minutes, collecting
nine of her 15 points. However, Cable's season ticket to the
foul line began early, as she was fouled eight times while shooting
the ball inside, including one series for a 3-point play.
Grays Harbor came out gunning in the second half, including a
series of 3-balls by guards Sheena Stamper and Angela Jensen,
who converted two each during a 4-minute stretch to mount a 50-37
advantage. Jensen would eventually down five shots from beyond
the arc, part of her game-high 28 points.
However, Grossmont rallied by continually plugging the ball inside
to Cable, who took the physical abuse, yet drained her foul shots
to chip away at the deficit. The defense also took a turn, including
Brooksley Bachich holding her ground to take-a-charge for a Chokers
player-control foul, while Cable added two of her game-best six
steals.
LA'QUEENA SHENAULT finally tied the game at 62-all on a layin
off a nice bounce pass from Burnley with 3:52 left. Then Cable,
on a rare possession when she wasn't fouled, sent a nice pass
to DENISE BENNETT for a layin to gain the lead at the 3:16 mark.
Grays Harbor would again knot the game at 65-all, but when Jensen
fouled out with 1:34 to play, the Chokers' options on offense
faded and Grossmont would close the ballgame on a 7-2 run to
garner the victory. Included was the go-ahead free throw by Shenault
on Jensen's fifth foul, a Cable layin, then two more converted
free throws each by Cable and CHELSEA KUHN.
For the contest, Grossmont downed 30-of-45 foul shots, while
Grays Harbor shot a horrific 4-for-17 at the line, sending the
winless Chokers to their 10th straight loss including an 0-2
record on their San Diego County roadtrip. They also fell to
Southwestern on Monday.
Kuhn established a career-high with 18 rebounds, as Grossmont
overcame a 21-19 deficit in the boards in the first half to claim
an overall 44-40 advantage under the glass.

Iglehart powers home points, rebounds to
help Saddleback take down Griffins in Grossmont Holiday finale
East County Sports.com
EL CAJON - University City High product
Ciara Iglehart poured home a
game-high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, powering 13th-ranked
Saddleback
College to the championship of the 16th annual Grossmont Holiday
Festival following
Monday's (Dec. 29) 82-60 pasting of the host Griffins.
Iglehart only needed the first half to
secure a double-double, registering 20
points and 12 boards to propel the Gauchos to a 37-24 lead at
intermission.
For her efforts, the 6-foot forward was tabbed the tournament
most valuable
player.
Grossmont (6-5) stayed close and actually
posted a 14-13 lead midway through
the opening 20 minutes, as poor shot selection by the Gauchos
- including
missing their first 11 3-point shots - kept the contest competitive.
However,
the speed of Saddleback (10-3) proved too much to overcome, closing
the period on
a 24-10 run, then scoring 30 points over the first 10 minutes
of the second
half to mount a commanding 67-37 lead.
The contest marked the return of Grossmont
head coach KAREN CAIRES to the
bench. She had been sidelined following complications from her
recent
pregnancy, as assistant KIRSTEN CUMMINGS was directing the Griffins
all season.
"At least I have a healthy, little
girl and she's doing fine, so I'm very
happy" noted Caires, who still may skip Tuesday afternoon's
(Dec. 30) 2 pm
non-conference contest with Greys Harbour (Wash.) as she eases
back into her
coaching role.
Saddleback guard Le'Sheala Dawson, another
University City alum, also earned
a berth on the all-tournament team after replacing the injured
Kim Martin
(Mount Miguel) in the starting line-up. Dawson was honored along
with Grossmont
forward JESSICA CABLE (El Capitan), who paced the Griffins with
23 points and
eight boards.
L.A. Harbor took third place following
a 69-57 decision over conference rival
LACC, and Compton held off pesky Bakersfield, 72-66, for the
consolation
trophy.

Cable
gets high ratings in tournament semifinal win over L.A. Harbor
EastCountySports.com
EL CAJON - Seven minutes into Sunday's (Dec. 28) semifinals of
the 16th Annual Grossmont Holiday Classic, the host Griffins
were on pace to snap the unofficial state record for turnovers
in a single contest. Trailing 8-2 thanks to 11 turnovers, the
team sought out its most experienced player to halt the slide.
Freshman forward JESSICA CABLE (left) proved to be the
stabilizer, registering game-highs of 25 points and 18 rebounds
to lift Grossmont to the championship contest after getting past
pesky L.A. Harbor, 67-52. The Griffins (6-4) will meet 13th-ranked
Saddleback in the 4 p.m. final, as the San Diegean-laden Gauchos
bounced Los Angeles City, 84-61.
Once upon a time, LACC was the disgrace in all of California
community college basketball, once losing a series of conference
contests to Santa Monica, 112-4 and 124-8, in the early 1980s.
In the first game, it is believed that the beleaguered Lady Cubs
committed 87 turnovers - more than two per minute.
However, here were the Griffins, unable to maintain the early,
up-tempo pace of the Seahawks.
"It was awful, it was ugly, it was whatever word you want
to describe it," noted Cable, a 2003 All-EastCountySports.com
co-Player of the Year as a senior at El Capitan High. "They
came out scrappy on the opening tip and we tried to stay with
them."
Nobody on the floor was more dominating than the 5-foot-10 Cable,
who connected on 7 of 14 shots from the floor and 11 of 16 free
throws.
Fortunately, interim coach KIRSTEN CUMMINGS, the former pro basketball
player out of Patrick Henry High, was able to slow the contest
while stretching the Harbor defense. With Cable aiding on the
press break, her passes from midcourt led to a variety of out-manned
breaks for easy baskets, as the forward also led Grossmont with
six assists.
And suddenly, the Griffins were on pace to snap the county record
for longest shutout stretch, holding the Seahawks scoreless for
a 12:29 span and turning an 8-2 deficit to an 18-8 lead with
16 straight points.
"We stayed in control and made the adjustment," added
Cable. "But now we'll have our hands full with Saddleback,
which has a lot of team speed and five players who can make plays."
Listing eight San Diego County high schools players on their
14-person roster, including former Mount Miguel forward KIM MARTIN,
the Gauchos will be heavy favorites in the final. Saddleback
(9-3) received 20 points from Le'Sheala Dawson, while Ciara Iglehart
added 19 points and 16 boards, as the pair of University City
products built a 15-point halftime lead in the romp.
Grossmont will need to again match a season-best shooting percentage
of nearly 50 percent (23-for-47 against Harbor), thanks to smart
shot selection in the paint, getting 32 foul shots while abstaining
from the 3-point shot (just 2-of-4). Meanwhile, Harbor constantly
tried the 3-ball to rally, but mustered just one conversion in
16 attempts, allowing the Griffs to control the boards, 50-32,
to overcome the battle of the turnovers (38-23).
Tiffany Harris came off the bench to pace the Seahawks (4-7)
with 17 points and six rebounds.

Grossmont Tournament hosts six visitors
in three-day event
By Chris Davis, Special to Eastcountysports.com
EL CAJON - Grossmont College will host the 16th annual Grossmont
College Holiday Invitational Tournament Saturday (Dec. 27) through
Monday (Dec. 29). Joining the host Griffins in the seven-team
are the Bakersfield Renegades, Compton Tartars, Los Angeles City
Cubs, Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks, San Bernardino Valley Wolverines,
and the Saddleback Gauchos.
The tournament begins at 2 p.m. each day. Grossmont draws a 1st
round bye and plays the winner of the Bakersfield-Los Angeles
Harbor game Sunday (Dec. 28) at 8 p.m. The championship game
is Monday (Dec. 29) at 4 p.m.
Here is a look at the participating teams:
Saddleback (7-3) - The Gauchos, who are ranked as
the 13th best team in the state (# 6 in Southern California),
are led by a tandem of San Diego County standouts KIMBERLY MARTIN,
a 6-foot guard out of Mount Miguel, and Ciara Iglehart (6-0,
F) a 6-foot sophomore forward out of University City. Saddleback
Coach Fentriss Winn, now in his second season at the Gauchos
helm, has brought together a team of 14 players, 9 of whom are
from San Diego County.
San Bernardino Valley (6-2) - A 6-foot-1 freshman guard
leads the 15th-ranked team in Southern Cal with a double-double
average per game. Jasmin Wilson scores 24.8 points (leads
the Foothill Conference), grabs 12.3 rebounds (2nd), dishes out
3.4 assists (3rd), and the Freshman blocks 2.1 per contest. Freshman
Danielle Saulsberry brings an average of 14.4 points to every
game, and April Harris brings 9.5 points for the Wolverines.
The team has scored above 70 points in all but the opening game
(61), including a season high of 101. The Wolverines averages
80.9 points per contest.
Grossmont (5-4) - The Lady Griffins are coming off a nine-point
loss to Barstow on the road last week. In that game Jessica
Cable sat school records on both most free throws attempted (34)
and most made (24). With the five wins, the Griffins have
already surpassed last year's win total.
Bakersfield (3-9) - The Lady Renegades have struggled
put of the gate they make their first appearance in more than
five seasons. Bakersfield is averaging 60.9 points per
game while allowing 71.3 points (based on statistics provided
by the COA).
Compton (10-3) - The Lady Tartars are coming off a 66-55
victory over Cerritos as they enter the Grossmont as possible
contender for the Grossmont title. The team started out ranked
in the Top 15 in Southern California, however, they slipped to
unranked teams. With the 10 wins they are in third place
behind 10-0 Pasadena City College and 14-1 Mount San Antonio
College in the tough South Coast Conference North Division.
A match-up to look for would be a Compton-LA City match up in
the Grossmont semifinals on Sunday (Dec. 28).
LA City (6-5) - The Lady Cubs ride a 5-game winning streak
into the Grossmont Tournament on an upswing. Earlier this month,
the Lady Cubs defeated LA Harbor 84-45.
LA Harbor (3-7) - The Lady Seahawks have failed to break
the 50-point barrier in all but three games this year. As a team
they are struggling from the free throw line as they are only
shooting 21 per cent.

Cable notches single-game free-throw records,
but Griffins can't go the distance at Barstow
By Chris Davis
Special to Eastcountysports.com
BARSTOW - The Grossmont College Griffins took to the road for
the final time in 2003, and came up short in a 73-64 setback
at Barstow College on Thursday night (Dec. 18). The losing
effort was not lacking for a winning performance as Grossmont
freshman JESSICA CABLE scored 32 points, setting a couple of
school records for free throw shooting in the process.
Cable, a 5-foot-10 freshman out of El Capitan High, connected
on a school-record 24 of 34 free throws for the Griffins (5-4).
She breaks the previous record of 15-for-19 set by HEIDI HOLM
in 1992. Cable's 34 free throw attempts is also a Grossmont milestone
"I couldn't have done it by myself," Cable said. She
was referring to her teammates passing her the ball inside.
"Jessica did what she and the team needed for her to do,"
Interim head coach KIRSTEN CUMMINGS said. "We need
to learn from our mistakes, and move on."
The Griffins sluggish finish did not please Cummings. Barstow's
Vikings (2-7) ended the game on an 18-6 run to pull out the victory.
"Toward the end of the game fatigue sat in," Cable
said after the game, "We couldn't execute what got us the
lead in the late portions of the game."
At halftime, the Griffins led 24-23. However, Grossmont made
five shots from the field in the first 20 minutes. Cable
was 1-for-8 from the field but was a very impressive 10-for-14
from the line. It seemed as if every time the Griffins
got the ball in Cable's hands the Vikings played "Hack-a-Jessica".
PATRICE BURNLEY also reached double figures for Grossmont as
she scored 12, including the lone 3-point basket.
SIDELINE VIEW: The Griffins will be hosting their annual
Holiday Tournament Dec. 26-28 on campus. Teams that will
be participating include: Saddleback, L.A. City, Bakersfield,
San Bernardino Valley, L.A. Harbor, Compton, as well as Grossmont.
. . Following the tournament, the Griffins will complete
the 2003 portion of the schedule with an Inter-state match up
against Gray's Harbor out of Washington . . . In other news,
Grossmont head coach KAREN CAIRES is on schedule to return to
