WEEK ONE (Feb. 21–28)

Saturday, Feb. 28

Foothills Christian 8, Mar Vista 0 — In Imperial Beach, the visiting Knights recorded their second shutout in three games, limiting the Mariners to five hits while improving to 3-0.

J.J. Granillo allowed four hits over six innings, striking out 11. He also collected three hits, including an RBI double.

Grant Cator led the Knights with four hits, highlighted by a two-run double.

Friday, Feb. 27

No known local games scheduled.

Thursday, Feb. 26

Orange Glen 3, Mount Miguel 1 — The Patriots completed a sweep of the home-and-home series despite two hits apiece by the Matadors’ Mekhi Yancy and Jayden Sanchez.

Coastal 14, Liberty Charter 1 — The Stingrays completed a two-game sweep of the Lions.

Wednesday, Feb. 25

Foothills Christian 10, Kearny 1 — Senior “Captain” Jack Morgan collected two doubles and drove in three runs as the Knights defeated the Komets.

Tuesday, Feb. 24

Orange Glen 9, Mount Miguel 3

Coastal 17, Liberty Charter 3

Saturday, Feb. 21

Foothills Christian 14, Orange Glen 0 — Junior pitchers J.J. Granillo and Josh Howard combined on a two-hit shutout as the Knights opened their season with a convincing victory.

Granillo allowed one hit over five innings and struck out 10 before Howard finished the shutout.

Granillo also collected three hits and three RBI, while senior “Captain” Jack Morgan drove in three runs. Freshman Tylor Burrell added two RBI in his high school debut.

Granillo, Morgan and Burrell each hit a double.
