Non-League

El Capitan 54, Monte Vista 12

SPRING VALLEY — El Capitan, which had scored a mere 72 points over eight previous games this season, erupted for a school-record 54 points to brush aside host Monte Vista, 54-12, in Tuesday’s (Sept. 8) non-league girls flag football contest.

The Vaqueros established school marks for points (previously 45 vs. El Cajon Valley) and margin of victory. Both previous records were set in 2025.

In one of the game’s top highlights, senior quarterback Kailynn Bonner connected with junior Mikaela Valencia on a deep pass for a touchdown, helping El Capitan roll. The win improved the Vaqueros’ record to 5-4.

On defense, senior Audra Guillory pressured the Monte Vista quarterback and recorded a sack, helping the Vaqueros hold the Monarchs to 12 points.

Individual game statistics were not reported at press time.

El Cajon Valley def. Mar Vista, forfeit

EL CAJON — El Cajon Valley did not play as scheduled for the second straight ballgame.

After last week’s home game turned into a scrimmage when referees failed to arrive — the game was made up a few days later, with El Centro-Central taking a five-point win — Mar Vista canceled because of a lack of players for the “mad, mean, menacing” Mariners of Imperial Beach.

CHULA VISTA — This ballgame was canceled, with no makeup date announced.

Palomar League

Ramona 39, Sage Creek 0

EAST CARLSBAD — Ramona sophomore quarterback Elisa Gaines smoked host Sage Creek for a school-record five touchdown passes as the Bulldogs opened Palomar League action with a one-sided blowout of the Bobcats, 39-0, Tuesday (Sept. 8).

Gaines needed to throw for only 170 yards — with a long completion of just 18 yards — after the Ramona defense forced a series of three-and-outs to create short fields for the offense to exploit. Five different Bulldogs collected one touchdown reception apiece.

Ramona (5-2 overall) equaled its 39-0 verdicts over Vista (2024) and San Pasqual (2025).

Western League

Scripps Ranch 32, Patrick Henry 0

SCRIPPS RANCH — Fresh off an easy whipping of defending Western League champion Cathedral Catholic, 25-12, last Tuesday, the Scripps Ranch Falcons remained undefeated in league play after spanking visiting Patrick Henry, 32-0. The Patriots finished second in the circuit last season.

The Falcons (7-2 overall, 5-0 Western) led 12-0 at halftime, then erupted for three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter.

The showdown for first place saw the Patriots (4-2 overall, 3-1 league) have their three-game winning streak snapped while suffering the greatest shutout setback in school history. The 32-point loss also equaled the school record set in a 38-6 loss at Bonita Vista in 2024.

Southern Conference

Mountain Empire at 3-E Civic Charter

BARRIO LOGAN — The Mountain Empire RedHawks played their second-ever game against 3-E Civic Charter, located inside the San Diego Central Library downtown.

The contest, slated for Dolores Magdaleno Memorial Recreation Center, was the first ever for 3-E, which does not have an athletics nickname listed on its website.

Both schools were contacted to report the result of the 2:15 p.m. contest, but no report had been received at press time.
