Division 4
SANTANA 20, RANCHO BUENA VISTA 19
VISTA — Cameron Udvarhelyi passed for 367 yards, while Breezy Udvarhelyi caught three touchdown passes as eighth-seeded Santana stunned top-seeded Rancho Buena Vista, 20-19, in Thursday’s (Oct. 29) CIF San Diego Section Division 4 quarterfinal.
Cameron Udvarhelyi completed 35 of 55 passes, repeatedly working the ball to her younger sister. Breezy Udvarhelyi finished with 125 receiving yards and accounted for all three Santana touchdowns.
The one-point decision avenged Santana’s 25-18 regular-season loss to Rancho Buena Vista.
The Sultans also continued their late-season rise after finishing one game behind Grossmont Valley League co-champions El Cajon Valley and West Hills.
Santana (11-9) has now secured a winning season after opening the playoffs with a 35-13 victory over Escondido. Cameron Udvarhelyi passed for 372 yards and four touchdowns in that contest, giving her 739 passing yards during the first two postseason rounds.
The Sultans will host No. 12 Oceanside in Tuesday’s semifinal at 6 p.m.
EL CAPITAN 33, RANCHO BERNARDO 20
LAKESIDE — Second-seeded El Capitan advanced to the Division 4 semifinals by turning back Rancho Bernardo, 33-20, at El Capitan Stadium.
The Vaqueros entered the postseason after earning their first Grossmont Hills League victory in their regular-season finale. They have now followed that breakthrough with the program’s first CIF playoff victory.
El Capitan improved to 8-13 and will host sixth-seeded Imperial in Tuesday’s semifinal at 6 p.m.
Imperial reached the semifinals by blanking Otay Ranch, 47-0.
No individual statistics were available.
OCEANSIDE 20, LIBERTY CHARTER 0
ALPINE — Oceanside’s unlikely postseason surge continued as the 12th-seeded Pirates blanked fourth-seeded Liberty Charter, 20-0, at Joan MacQueen Middle School.
Oceanside needed a 12-7 play-in victory over Orange Glen merely to enter the main Division 4 bracket. The Pirates then eliminated Grossmont Valley League co-champion El Cajon Valley, 26-7, before shutting down the Lions.
The Pirates (9-14) have won four straight games and will visit Santana in Tuesday’s semifinal.
Liberty Charter completed its season with an 11-4 record.
Division 1
GRANITE HILLS 20, POINT LOMA 19
EL CAJON — Granite Hills built a two-touchdown halftime advantage, then denied a late conversion attempt to escape with a 20-19 victory over Point Loma in Thursday’s (Oct. 29) CIF San Diego Section Division 1 quarterfinal at Valley Stadium.
Point Loma struck first for a 6-0 lead, but Granite Hills quarterback Taylor Nash answered with a touchdown run with 11:55 remaining in the second quarter. The Eagles converted the PAT to move ahead, 7-6.
Senior running back Brooklynn Spencer added a touchdown with 5:01 left in the half, extending Granite Hills’ advantage to 13-6.
Nash delivered again on the final play before halftime. After dropping back and looking toward receivers on the right, she found the left side of the field unoccupied and raced 7 yards for her second rushing touchdown.
Nash then connected with Spencer for the conversion, sending the Eagles into halftime with a 20-6 lead.
Point Loma rallied during the second half. The Pointers pulled within one point on a touchdown with 1:58 remaining, but Granite Hills junior Siena Healy broke up the ensuing conversion pass in the end zone, preserving the Eagles’ 20-19 advantage.
Granite Hills then took possession and ran out the clock.
Point Loma received touchdowns from Charlotte Klaus, Amanda Chrisman and Jordan Ruthven. Ruthven scored on an interception return, while Savanna Guitar and Samantha Kociencki also intercepted passes.
Despite committing three turnovers, the Eagles produced enough offense during the second quarter—and made the decisive defensive play late—to survive.
Granite Hills (11-7) defeated Point Loma for the second time this season after posting a 32-7 victory on Sept. 3. Thursday’s loss ended the Pointers’ 12-game winning streak.
The fourth-seeded Eagles will visit top-seeded Cathedral Catholic in Tuesday’s Division 1 semifinal at 6 p.m.
CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC 34, RAMONA 0
CARMEL HIGHLANDS — Top-seeded Cathedral Catholic avenged its only loss to Ramona by eliminating the Bulldogs, 34-0, in the Division 1 quarterfinals.
Ramona had defeated the Dons, 12-6, on Aug. 17, but Cathedral Catholic reversed the result in decisive fashion Thursday.
The defeat marked Ramona’s first shutout loss of the season.
The Bulldogs finished 14-7, setting a program record for victories while sharing the Palomar League championship. Ramona opened the postseason by edging Hilltop, 14-13, behind two fourth-quarter touchdown runs from quarterback Elisa Gaines.
Cathedral Catholic will host Granite Hills in Tuesday’s semifinal.
Division 3
PATRICK HENRY 43, HOLTVILLE 26
SAN CARLOS — Top-seeded Patrick Henry generated its highest scoring output of the season to defeat eighth-seeded Holtville, 43-26, in the Division 3 quarterfinals.
The victory moved Patrick Henry into the semifinals after the Patriots received a first-round bye. Patrick Henry improved to 9-11 following a difficult Western League schedule.
The Patriots will host fifth-seeded Mabel O’Farrell Charter in Tuesday’s semifinal at 6 p.m.
O’Farrell advanced with a 20-19 victory over San Pasqual, extending its winning streak to 17 games.
Division 2
POWAY 13, GROSSMONT 7
POWAY — Poway limited Grossmont to one touchdown and eliminated the second-seeded Foothillers, 13-7, in the Division 2 quarterfinals.
The Titans received their critical scores from Ashley Crafton and Cheyanne Longwell. Poway finished with 119 passing yards and 67 rushing yards while holding off the Foothillers.
Grossmont completed its season with a 12-9 record, an impressive turnaround after finishing 3-15 during its inaugural 2025 campaign.
Poway advanced to meet third-seeded Escondido Charter, which defeated Valley Center, 38-8.

With the Wolverines trailing, Jocelyn Cotton caught a 46-yard touchdown pass with 1:30 remaining. Senior Jordyn Vales then secured the one-point conversion to give Westview a 14-12 lead.
The defense delivered the finishing blow when junior Marielle Gawaran recorded a sack for a safety, completing the dramatic four-point victory.
