LAKESIDE — Gabriella Jackson hauled in a pair of long touchdown passes, finishing with three receptions for a career-high 127 yards to lead the host Vaqueros past El Cajon Valley, 19-14, in girls flag football action Tuesday (Sept. 1).

On defense, for the second straight day, a Grossmont Conference record was equaled when junior Kailey Joralemon registered three interceptions.

Mikaela Valencia fired both touchdown passes, while Sasha Parker rushed for another score on her lone carry — a 4-yard run.

El Cajon Valley attempted to mount yet another fourth-quarter comeback, but the El Capitan defense came through with six sacks, including three by senior linebacker Audrey Guillory, an early-season contender for East County Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Lily Murphy also posted a pair of quarterback sacks.

El Capitan (3-4) snapped a mild two-game losing skid and will look to reach .500 when it entertains Valhalla on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Braves are even at 2-2 overall heading into Thursday’s home matchup against Vista at 5:30 p.m.

Patrick Henry 18, Our Lady of Peace 14

SAN CARLOS — Patrick Henry again failed to convert a point-after-touchdown attempt, yet the Patriots reached the end zone three times to Our Lady of Peace’s two to down the Pilots, 18-14, in Western League action Tuesday (Sept. 1).

Patrick Henry moved to 3-1 both overall and in league play. OLP fell to 2-3. No statistics or game information other than the score was reported.

In another key Western League contest, visiting Scripps Ranch shocked host Cathedral Catholic — the defending league champion — 25-12 in Carmel Valley.

Both the Falcons and Dons entered the ballgame with identical 5-2 overall records.

Granite Hills 48, at Valhalla 6

RANCHO SAN DIEGO — The Granite Hills Eagles set a school scoring record by rolling up 48 points to defeat Jamacha neighbor Valhalla in Tuesday’s (Sept. 1) non-league girls flag football game.

The Eagles broke the previous mark of 45 points, set on the road against Rancho Buena Vista in a 2024 CIF-San Diego Section first-round playoff contest.

Granite Hills moved to 2-3 overall, while Orange Nation remained winless in four starts. No game statistics were reported.

Christian 26, at Francis Parker 20

LINDA VISTA — Christian’s first-year program is now 2-0 — with both victories coming on the road — after staving off host Francis Parker, 26-20.

No game statistics were reported.

Torrey Pines 19, at Steele Canyon 13

JAMUL — Defending CIF-San Diego Section Division I champion Torrey Pines held off host Steele Canyon, 19-13.

The Falcons, following a 3-3 showing at a tournament in Ventura County, moved to 5-5 overall. The Cougars fell to 3-4, with all three victories coming against sub-.500 programs.

Del Norte 27, Grossmont 12

4S RANCH — The Del Norte Nighthawks raced to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, then began turning to their reserves after carrying a 20-0 advantage into the second half of a 27-12 victory over visiting Grossmont.

Del Norte (4-4) has won three straight, starting the streak with a school scoring record in a 54-13 whipping of cross-freeway rival Rancho Bernardo. The Hillers (2-3) dropped their second straight.

Eastlake 32, West Hills 13

SANTEE — West Hills (1-2) has lost two straight games by a combined 50 points — the second-largest two-game margin in school history — following a 32-13 setback to visiting Eastlake.

The Titans (2-4), coming off a 6-0 overtime setback to Del Norte, snapped a three-game losing streak.
