Grossmont College 56, MiraCosta 47
FLETCHER HILLS — The Grossmont College women’s basketball team has played come-from-behind contests all season, but what would they do holding the lead.
With the Griffins leading by nie points after the first quarter, the Spartans trimmed the deficit to a single bucket with four minutes remaining in Friday’s (Feb. 2) Pacific Coast Athletic Confenernce battle.
And Grossmont never, cpompletely gae in, holding on for a satisfying 68-59 triumph over the visitors from Oceanside.
MiraCosta, once down 19-10, inched back all night to move to within 46-44 jist short of the midway point of the fourth quarter,
Then both defenses dug in for the next four minutes, with Grossmont barely ut-scoring the Spartans, 3-2, until the final 31 seconds.
Still trailing, 50-47, MiraCosta was forced to foul, but Pohai Basso and Allira MArtin both converted two foul shots, then Janea Wilson hit a breakaway layin at the buzzer to cinch the triumph.

Point guard Mia Maglalang posted 6 points, but handed out 7 assists to equal a season high.
Meanwhile, along with her 12 points, Wilson grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds to prevent the MiraCosta comeback.
With the win, rising Grossmont (5-15 overall) is now ted with MiraCosta in the PCAC at 2-5, keeping their mathematical chances for a CCCAA (or 3C2A) playoff berth alive.

While Grossmont had a bye date on Wednesday because Cuyamaca College couldn’t field a roster this season, San Diego Mesa upset 8th-ranked Palomar, 62-59, forgung a 3-way tie at the top between the two ballclubs, plus Imperiaql Valley at 5-1.
The decision by Mesa was thr school’s best snce upseeting top-rated and defending Southern California champion Santa Monica, 63-62, in 1982, ending the Corsairs 50-game winning streak.

Grossmont College 68, Imperial Valley 66
MiraCosta 83, Cuyamaca College 67
In ann eveing fir the visiting team in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, Grossmont College escaped from the imperial Valley with a dramatic, 2-point triumphm 68-66, over the host Umperial Valley Arams.
Meanwhile, MiraCosta came to the East County to dump hist Cuyamaca College, 83-67.
