No. 6 Biola powers by Hawks in three

LA MIRADA –Molly Witzmann‘s game-high eight kills wasn’t enough against No. 6 Biola as the Eagles won in three games Thursday night.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: San Diego Christian 0 | Biola 3 (25-17, 25-21, 25-14)
INSIDE THE GAME:
• After falling behind 7-0 in the first set, the Hawks came back to within three at 19-16 before the Eagles captured the win.
• The Hawks led the first half of set two, with their largest lead at 8-4. Biola took the lead for the first time at 14-13, not looking back to take the set.
• In set three, SDC led early on again but the Eagles, like the last set, powered by the Hawks to finish the sweep.
• Aleka Estrada led the team with 13 digs.
• Witzmann (eight kills), Alli Beezer (seven), and Juliana Gutknecht (six) were the top three attackers in the game.
• Ashlyn Riding tallied 23 assists.
• Biola finished with a 12-6 block advantage.
STAT OF THE GAME:
• The Hawks held Biola to a .245 hitting percentage, 35 points below their season average.
UP NEXT:
• SDC hosts William Jessup next Friday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at the East County Volleyball Association. The next day, the Hawks close their regular season schedule with a home game against Menlo.
