Wolf Pack warm up bats for big score over Vaqueros

LAKESIDE (4-21-16) — In a Grossmont Hills/Valley makeup game the West Hills Wolf Pack scored early on and never looked back as they beat the El Capitan Vaqueros, 14-2, Thursday (Apr. 21).

West Hills got the offense rolling right out of the gate as they pushed across three runs in the top of the first inning to lead 3-0 early. Leadoff hitter ALEXIS HERRERA (5-5, 4 R) singled and proceeded to steal second base, couple of batters later SIERRA SCHLICHTING (1-2, RBI, 2 R) singled advancing Herrera to third, Schlichting stole second, ALEX GUAY (1-5, 2 RBI, 2 R) singled in Herrera and a couple if batters later KENDALL MARINESI (3-5, 3 RBI) singled in Schlichting and ALYSSA BUBAR (1-4, RBI) singled in Guay.

The Wolf Pack scored another run in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 5-0 as Herrera singled and advanced to third on the double by MOANA PISIA (4-5, 3 RBI, 3 R, 3 2B) and Schlichting hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Herrera.

The Vaqueros got on the board as they scored a run to make it 5-1, GRACE BURKETT (2-3, RBI, R) singled advanced to third on the smash double by AMANDA VASQUEZ (1-2) and came into score on a sacrifice fly by KIM GARCIA (1-3, RBI).

The scoring continued for the Pack in the top of the third as PAIGE BOWLER (2-3, 4 RBI, R, HR) absolutely crushed the offering over the wall for the solo jack to make it 6-1.

El Capitan did its best to stay in the game as they would score another run in the bottom of the third inning as ZANDRA RAGALE (run) drew a one out walk, ALYSON VON YOKES reached on an error by the shortstop and Burkett laced a single that scored Ragale to put the score at 6-2.

West Hills added a couple more runs in the top of the fourth as Herrera walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Pisia who scored later on a single by Bowler to give the Pack an 8-2 lead.

More offense in the top of the fifth as Pisia would drive in two runs on a single and Guay would also have an RBI in the inning. After five innings of play it was 11-2 in favor of the Wolf Pack. They would tack on 3 more runs in the seventh.

Taking the circle for the Pack was CARLY BURSCH who tossed a complete game 7 inning victory, giving up 2 runs which 1 was earned on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2.

In the loss for the Vaqueros, AMANDA VASQUEZ went 4 1/3 innings giving up 11 runs of which 8 were earned on 15 hits while walking 2.
