LA MESA (6-16-16) — The Helix High boys’ basketball program has received some good news this week.

MILES NORRIS, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound junior is reportedly set to transfer from Chula Vista’s Mater Dei High to Helix Charter.

Norris, a power forward, is regarded as one of the nation’s top basketball recruits with wide shoulders, long arms and a terrific feel as a shot blocker and rebounder. He entered his sophomore season as Scout’s 13th ranked 2018 prospect, and has since moved up to 10th on their list entering the 2016-17 season.

Norris has improved offensively, as he now has a drop step/right hand hook combination and a smooth looking jumper, which he utilizes from midrange and three.

Despite the continued progression, Norris is pushing himself to get better.

“I need to work on everything and I’m trying to get better every day,” Norris said. “I need to improve at being loud, being a leader, posting up stronger, rebounding and playing defense.”

Norris averaged 14.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game last season as a sophomore with the Crusaders. He plays AAU ball for Earl Watson Elite.

Norris is currently holds interest from Auburn, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, St. John’s (NY), San Diego State, Arizona, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Utah, UCLA, USC, Gonzaga, Colorado, Washington and Wyoming.

That’s some list for a player that isn’t set to graduate until 2018.
