Hawks in midst of mid-season revival

LOS ANGELES (3-23-17) — After a three-game sweep of Bethesda University, the San Diego Christian Hawks extended their winning streak by shutting out the Thundering Herd of Shepherd University, 11-0, in Los Angeles Thursday.

Following the game, the Hawks now embark on a three-game series against the William Jessup University Warriors on March 24 (doubleheader) and 25 at Pote Field in Griffith Park, Los Angeles.

All of a sudden, San Diego Christian has won four-straight and seven of their last nine heading into the second half of the Golden State Athletic Conference campaign. The opponent on-deck, WJU, 0-13 in GSAC play this season.

Leading the Hawks in the power game is VAHN BOZOIAN with three homers and 17 RBI. Close behind is CAEDEN BARNES with two home runs and 13 RBI.

The leader of the pitching staff is CALEB RODUSKY who is 4-2 with a 4.39 ERA in 41.0 innings pitched.

On Thursday, the Hawks got a combined effort of strong shutout pitching by LOGAN TAYLOR (1-1), MATT MEGGARS, LEO SOTO and MICHAEL HORTON.

SDC used three multiple run offensive innings to move their record to 10-13 for the season.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the first with a leadoff walk to STEVEN PICO, followed by a double to left by JUSTIN HAWKINS.With one out,

With one out, Barnes drove in both runners with a 2 RBI single. Barnes later scored on BROCK MOSIER’Ssingle for a 3-0 lead.

Hawkins opened the third inning with a leadoff triple to center, scoring on an error by the Shepherd pitcher (Bozoian reached on the error). Barnes singled in Bozoian for the second run of the inning, and he also scored on an error by the shortstop (Mosier reached base).

BROOKS FAGES connected for a double to score Mosier for the fourth run and an early 7-0 lead.

The final big inning was in the fifth for another 4 runs.

Mosier walked and BOBBY MEAD singled to put runners at the corners. Fages drove in the first run on a single, and after AUSTIN YEOMAN loaded the bases getting hit by the pitch, Pico drove in 2 more with a single to right field. Yeoman scored on the throw finishing the scoring and an 11-0 victory.
