Musgrove gets win in World Series Game 5

HOUSTON – Former Grossmont Foothiller JOE MUSGROVE isn’t some flash-in-the-pan for the American League champion Houston Astros.
The organization’s former minor league pitcher of the year burst onto the scene for top contender Houston by setting a major league record for most strikeouts by a reliever in a debut with eight against the Blue Jays.
The 24-year-old right-hander from El Cajon had to be feeling pretty low after allowing Joc Pederson’s three-run home run in Game 4 even though the Astros were already down 2-1 when he entered the game.
But Musgrove had to feel a certain sense of redemption after earning the victory in Game 5 after pitching a scoreless top of the tenth inning, allowing just one hit in what had to be considered a sure accomplishment considering the Astros’ won a 13-12 slugfest, sending the series back to Los Angeles and Houston needing just one win to clinch its first-ever World Series title.
