SAN DIEGO – Foothills Christian closed out the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic with another impressive win Saturday afternoon.

A balanced scoring attack helped the Knights topple pre-season state No. 4 Fairfax a few nights after topping pre-season So. Cal No. 6 Westchester.

Foothills closed out their final tournament of the season with a 4-1 record and wins over Mater Dei (Chula Vista), Crossroads, Westchester and Fairfax.

TAESHON CHERRY had a monster first half with 13-points and eight-rebounds. An injury late slowed Cherry’s tallies on the stat sheet and enabled Fairfax to close in late in the game. Cherry finished with 17-points and 12-rebounds, both team highs.

DERRICK CARTER-HOLLINGER walked away with All-Tournament honors. The junior averaged 15.6 points-per-game over the course of the five-day tournament.

Carter-Hollinger and fellow junior JAREN NAFARRETE each had 15-points in the narrow win over Fairfax.

YASSINE GHARRAM, who continues to become a more versatile weapon in the Knight’s arsenal finished with 17-points, 7-rebounds and 8-assist.

Young DERRIEN CARTER-HOLLINGER is building a reputation for himself as well.

Two, fourth quarter three-balls by the Freshman wing were vital in Foothills’ narrow victory.

The first gave the Knights a 61-50 advantage before Shawn Booker answered for Fairfax with a three of his own. Moments later Carter-Hollinger landed his second long-ball to boost the Knight’s lead back to 11-points at 64-53. A late surge from the Lions was all for not as Foothills Christian hung on for their second close victory in as many nights.
