ESCONDIDO – The Foothills Christian Knights, who are currently the No. 1-ranked team in San Diego County, won their 14th-straight game on Wednesday night, defeating the 11th-ranked Santa Fe Christian Eagles, 55-50.

The Knights continued to get the most attention from the media in the latest release of the rankings on Monday, garnering seven of the 12 first-place votes. Torrey Pines got the other five votes.

However, in the latest official computer rankings, used for playoff seeding, the Falcons are currently slated as the top-seeded team in the Open Division, with FCHS in second.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Foothills Christian was able to defeat the host Eagles to improve to 8-0 in the Coastal League and 20-5 overall without their leading scorer.

The Eagles led by one at halftime, but the Knights were able to pull out the win after a back-and-forth second half.

Freshman DERRIEN CARTER-HOLLINGER hit a three-pointer from the right corner on a kick out following an entry pass from junior DERRICK CARTER-HOLLINGER, who found his wide-open teammate with 4:25 left in the game to give the Knights a 50-45 lead.

Sophomore YASSINE GHARRAM had 17 points for FCHS.

With four games remaining in the Coastal League season the Knights are nearing in on clinching at least a share of the league title.

The Knights will travel to face Bishop’s in one of the key games of the league season on Friday at 7 p.m.
