RANCHO SAN DIEGO (12-6-2018) – The growing Cuyamaca College basketball team is gaining on their competition although they again came up short in Wednesday’s (Dec. 5) non-conference game at Coyotes’ Den.

Cuyamaca held an 11-6 lead on visiting Glendale College, but the Vaqueros roared back to shoot 56 percent from the floor over the balance of the first half, taking an 80-65 decision.

Once Glendale got even at 13-all, its closed the half on a 28-19 run to raise its record to 3-6. The Coyotes fell to 1-9.

Andre Banton led Glendale with 23 points, while Steven Hubbell added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Cuyamaca received balanced scoring, led by 13 points by Frankie Gutierrez. Moses Smith and Ryan Flowers scored 10 from off the bench.

Santiago Canyon 100, MiraCosta 83: At Orange, the host Hawks ran up 63 points in the first half to skate past the Spartans in Wednesday’s (Dec. 5) non-conference contest.

MiraCosta actually held a 9-6 lead three minutes into the contest, but Santiago Canyon closed the half on a 57-32 run for a 1 lead at the intermission with four players already scoring in double figures.

For Santiago Canyon (5-4), Lucas Holden led all srs with 23 points, while Tyler Goodlow added 15 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.

For MiraCosta (5-5), Dirk Helaire registered a team-best 14 points, while Xavier Allison and Mikhail Land added 12 points each.

Miramar 85, San Diego Mesa 73
:  No report from the host Jets on this PCAC North-South contest at Hourglass Arena in Mira Mesa. Miramar is now 8-2; Mesa dropped to 0-7.

Cameron Hill (San Diego Mesa) had 23 points and 8 rebounds in the loss against San Diego Miramar.
