Hobbled Matadors continue to win

SPRING VALLEY – The fourth-ranked Mount Miguel Lady Matadors defeated the Monte Vista Monarchs, 83-30, in a Grossmont Valley League contest on Friday night.

Nataly Bravo led Mount Miguel (15-4, 4-0 GVL) with 19 points, including three three-point field goals.

Mount Miguel led 22-2 with just over a minute to play in the first quarter.

The Matadors’ Arantxa Fonseca added 18 points. She left the game in the third quarter following an on-court injury and didn’t return.

Mount Miguel has played the last seven games without its leading scorer.

Danay Williams-Pope contributed 11 points for Mount Miguel. She also had six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Zanna Hurst finished with nine points, all on three-pointers. She also grabbed five rebounds and made six steals.

Ixchel Rojo of the Matadors also had nine points, five rebounds, three steals, and seven assists.

Jacquee Brown had seven points, including a three-pointer.

Sami Gonzalez led Monte Vista with 13 points, including a three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

Micayaah Flournoy had a three-pointer in the second quarter and finished with nine points.
