MOUNTAIN EMPIRE 44, LIBERTY CHRISTIAN 41 – Corey Vann came out red-hot and RedHawks won against the struggling Lions.

Vann made three three-pointers in the first quarter, then three more in the second quarter.

Vann had 18 points, including 6-of-10 from three-point range, along with seven rebounds.

“If we keep working and keep our foot on the gas, we have a chance to be something special this year,” Vann said. “I think that this year we are playing way better as a team and not 1-for-all basketball anymore,” Vann said.

Mountain Empire led 18-10 after the first quarter and still held a 31-24 lead at halftime.

Mountain Empire improved to 5-3.

Liberty Charter fell to 1-9.

Senior Albin Acevedo had nine points for Mountain Empire. He was 3-for-4 from the line in the second half.

Senior Alejandro Adkins eight points for the RedHawks, including a three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

Senior Lukas Spencer added eight points for MEHS.

Senior Sam Clark had a first-quarter three for LCHS, finishing with eight points.
