CL: Patriots chase down Storm

LIBERTY STATION (4-19-22) – A pair of late insurance runs by the Christian Patriots (13-8, 2-0 CL) would procure them a 7-4 victory over Jacob High Tech High of San Diego (2-16, 0-3 CL) on Tuesday in City League action.
The Patriots would strike first thanks to Rachel Stephens (1-3, R, RBI) who hit a ground ball out but in the process Kate Manes (3-4, 3 R, SB) would race home for the score and Allyson Moody (1-3, R, RBI) would follow with an RBI single that scored Tyler Krystek (2-3, R, RBI, SB) to give them a 2-0 lead over the Storm.
However, the Storm would tie things up in the bottom of the inning thanks to an RBI single and also on an error by the Patriots.
Christian though would retake the lead in the top of the third inning when with two outs Manes would score on an error, a couple of batters later Lucy Sherburne (2-4, RBI, SB) would lay down a perfect bunt for a base hit in which Stephens would race home to make it 4-2. They would tack on another run thanks to a sacrifice by Kaitlyn Moody (RBI) that brought home Allyson Moody.
High Tech High would answer in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run home run to pull within 5-4 but the Patriots in the top of the seventh inning would push across a couple of runs to give them some insurance.
Those insurance runs would come courtesy of Madison Kleinsmith scoring on an error by the Storm and Tyler Krsytek sacrificing to first base allowing Manes to come into score to make it 7-4.
Despite allowing a walk and a base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning Manes would retire the final two batters to end the game.
