Altmeyer delivers On Senior Day for Pats

DEL CERRO – There would be no denying Patrick Henry Patriots leadoff hitter Kaiah Altmeyer (4-5, 2 R, 3 RBI) on Wednesday(May 11) as she sliced off four hits in the 12-2 victory over the University City Centurions in City Western League action.
Altmeyer on the day would single in the third, doubled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and also in the sixth inning as she finished 4-for-5 at the plate.
The victory elevated the Patriots into a tie for first place with idle Mission Bay with one game remaining in the regular season.
Despite the stellar day at the plate by Altmeyer, the Patriots were in a tight contest as the Centurions only trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. However, the bats of the Patriots woke up and went to business in the bottom half of the fifth which led to them scoring eight runs to really put things out of reach.
An RBI single by Maura Evans (1-3, R, RBI) that scored Olivia Gigante (1-2, R) started the scoring off which gave them a 4-2 lead, the following batter Jenna Mallari (R, RBI) drew a bases-loaded walk which brought home McKenna Gieger (2-4, R, RBI, 2B) which was followed by Sophia Sanchez driving in Isabella Dean (RUN) to make it 6-2. A couple of batters later Malia Savage (2-4, 2 R, 4 RBI, 2 2B) would rip a double to right field that scored both Brooke Taylor (RUN) and Altmeyer to extend the lead to 10-2. The final run of the inning came courtesy of an RBI single by Savannah Sutton that plated Savage.
Leading 11-2 the Patriots were well on their way to victory and would end the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as Altmeyer with two outs would drive in Aubrey Purvis (RUN) to end the game via run rule.
Sanchez picked up the win for the Patriots as she went the full six innings in which she allowed two runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out two.
Isabelle Gibson was on the losing end for the Centurions as she allowed nine runs on eleven hits while walking five and striking out four on the day.
Not only was this the last regular-season home game but what also made it special was the fact that it was Senior Day for the Patriots as they celebrated seven graduating Seniors. Those graduating Seniors that were celebrated were Kaiah Altmeyer, Olivia Gigante, Elianna Castillo, Ka’imi De Guzman, Malia Savage, Chloe Wilson and Savannah Sutton.
The win also allows for two possible outcomes for the Patriots in regards to the City Western League crown. Outcome one is to win on Friday on the road against Scripps Ranch to end the regular season and if Mission Bay also wins against University City then there will be Co-Champions or outcome two is to win on Friday and if University City beats Mission Bay then Patrick Henry will win the City Western League outright.
Either way, the Patriots will be gunning for their third straight City Western League championship on Friday afternoon to finish out the regular season.
