Week 4 –  Dec. 5-10, 2022

Wed., Dec. 9: Monte Vista Monarchs at San Diego HS Cavers

DOWNTOWN – The undefeated San Diego Cavers built an early, double-digit lead, but Monte Vista rallied to make things interesting in the fourth period before the host Cavers survived, 61-42,in non-league action on Friday (Dec.9) to snap the Monarchs’ 4-game winning streak.

Junior co-captain Siara Bracey (No. 3), paced San Diego with 17 points, moving the ballclub’s record to 10-0/

For Monte Vista (5-3 overall), senior Angelina De Leon went to the foil line all night, registered 16 points.
San Diego remains the top-ranked Division III school in the San Diego Section after coming off a 6-14 campaign.

The Cavers are als off to their best starts since opening the 2011-12 season at 9-1.

The setback was a touch disappointing fo Monte Vista, which had hoped to tie for the school’s best start under head coach Sabrina Jimenez, the former standout at Granite Hills who was a two-time, forst team, All-East County selection.

Jimenez, a guard, was also a third-team honoree as a sophomore in 2007-08, making her a rare three-time All-East County award winner..
