Griffins explosion! Romp with 127 points

IMPERIAL — No offense, but the offense for Grossmont College can be really offensive at times — in a good way.

The Griffins tallied 127 points — the most in the 21st Century and believed to be a school record — in a 127-60 dismantling of host Imperial Valley Colleg in Pacific Coast Atheltic Conference action held Wednesday (Jan. 4) at the DiPaoli Sports Complex.

The point total is the second-most in California this season and the most against a community college opponent. The season-high is the 142 points scored by Moorpark in a romp over California Miramar University, 142-60, at a tournament held at San Bernardino Valley. on Nov. 12.

No game details were offered by the IVC staff; the IV Press newspaper did not cover the contest; GC was traveling from the Imperial Valley at press time.

 

MiraCosta 80, Cuyamaca 69

RANCHO SAN DIEGO —  Cuyamaca College, which hasn’t finished above .500 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action since 2009-10 (9-7 record), opened its PCAC campaign with a home-court setback to MiraCosta.

Cuyamaca College reported: “The Men’s Coyote Basketball team continued their season post Christmas break with a hard fought battle against MiraCosta College. The men fell to the Spartans 80-69. The team played well but in the end, fouls and missed opportunities hurt them. READ IT
