FLETCHER HILLS — The rain expected on Tuesday (Feb. 28) afternoon wasn;t supposed to arrive in the East County until just after 3  p.m. That’s bad news for local high schools, butr not for Grosmsont College, which starts its tennis matches at 1 p.m.

Thus, Griffins head coach Megan Haber notified Cypress College that it was fine to drive south for their non-conference match. And even though it was cold and windy, noty one drop of rain fell until after the natchm which the Griffins easuly collected in a 8-1 non-conference victory over the Chargers.

Grossmont posted a sweep in six single matches, then took the second- and third-flight matches in doubles, which figured to be the most competitive of the events.
