Valhalla 11, El Capitan 10

LAKESIDE – A year ago in the final meeting between Vahalla and El Capitan high schools, th Norsemen won 10-0 in the biggest wireout this century.

It took only one rematch to better that total.

Norsemen junior Matt Ibrahim spun a 3-hit shtuout Tuesday (Apr. 23), BREEZING TO an11-0 conquest of the Vauqeros at Hostetler Field.

Ibrahim struckout 11 Vaqueros wuthout issuing a walk, faving two batters above the minimum as he was aided by an error-less defense which turned a double Play.

Ibrahim was also the winning potcher in the 2023 complete-game shutout, givcing him 14 consecutive scoreless innings against El Capitan.

More importsantly for the Norsemen (13-6overall), they retain a shre of first place in the Grossmont Valley League with West Hills at 3-0. El Cap (12-8) falls two full games back at 1-2 in GVL play.

Pending any charge by third-place Monte Vista, Orange Nation and West Hills play twice next week in a series would should decide the leaue titlist.

The leading bater was Mace Wheeler with three RBIon two hits.Incuded was a rare triple whichhit the bank at Hostetler FIeld.

However, the RBI leader was Aidan Treltas with four on a pair of two-run singles. Colton Stinkeoway also produced two hits. Both are seniors.

 

West Hills 8, El Cajon Valley 2

SANTEE – The West Hills Wolf Pack were almost caught napping, leading only 3-2 through five inings as the Braves were attempting their long,8-year losing streak in league games.

However, the Pack awoke to push fve runs across in the sixth to retain its lock for first place with Valhalla in the Grossmont Valley League.

The Braves stayed close on a double and run scored by Joseph Johnson, who posted two of the five hits by ECVHS.

Meanwhile, Christopher Cosio pitched five solid innings before running out of gas in the sixth, COsio still gained a complete game after striking out four Wolf Pack batters.

West Hills attempted to save some of its better pitchers for next week’s showdown series with Valhalla, making this a bullpengame with four releivers going a couple of innings each.

Shane S Stevens led the Pack by going 2-for-4 with thtree RBI.
