POINT LOMA (11-19-2018) – A fast start by San Diego Christian College failed to last long enough.

Hawks guard Hayden Fredrick created a turnover and layin in the opening 16 seconds, but Point Loma Nazarene answered with a 9-0 run, as the Sea Lions raced to an 85-49 decision over their former conference rivals Saturday (Nov. 18) at Golden Gymnasium.

Point Loma Nazarene (3-1) held SDCC to just 31 percent shooting from the floor and allowed just five free throw attempts to the Hawks. Derek Novsek was the only player to attempt free throws, as the Hawks scoring leader (28.0/game) finished with a season-low eight points.

Fredrick led the Hawks with 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Richard Wright was the only other member in double-figures for SDCC with 10. He grabbed a team-high 5 rebounds.
PLNC, a former member of the Golden State Athletic Conference with the Hawks, is now an NCAA Division II program.

San Diego Christian (1-3)  will hold its first home game Tuesday (Nov. 20), hosting La Sierra University of Riverside. The Hawks defeated the Golden Eagles on Nov. 8, 82-69, in their lone victory of the season.
