CARMEL HIGHLANDS – The inaugural season of CIF sanctioned girls flag football playoffs continues with Tuesday’s (Nov. 14) Division I semifinals, when sixth-ranked Grossmont meets second-seeded and unbeaten Torrey Pines at Falcons Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The Foothillers (12-4 overall), which finished second in the Metro Conference after defeating Olympian on the final day of the regular season,13-6, then opened postseason play by again stoppong the Eagles with an easy 31-6 conquest.
Meanwhile, Torrey Pine (15-0)s barely escaped in its quarterfinal-round contest, nipping rawley, 14-13.
In the other haf of the bracket, No. 1 Bonita Vista whipped Scripps Ranch, 333-6, allowing the Barons to host their Final Four contest Calexico, which survived a shootout with San Dieguito, 27-18.
Bonita Vista owns a 14-1 record, with the Barons’ lone setback coming against the Hillers, 19-13, on Sept, 18 at Lt. Mitchell Memorial Field.
The San Diego Section title game will be Thursday (Nov. 16) at Escondido High, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Division II semifinalsfinds top-seeded Classical hosting La Costa Canyon, while third-seeded Cathedral Catholic gained a home game afterNo. 7 Mission Bay upset No. 2 Morse, 30-21.
