#1 MATER DEI CATHOLIC 5, #4 CHRISTIAN 1 – It just wasn’t the day offensively for the visiting Christian Patriots as they were limited to only a pair of hits in the road loss against the top seeded Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders Thursday afternoon.
Christian would draw the first strike in the top of the first inning when Kaitlyn Moody drove in a run on ground ball out scoring Lucy Sherburne to give them a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the momentum swung the other way pretty quickly as Mater Dei strung together four straight hits to tie the game at 1-1. They would score three more runs via another pair of singles to push the lead to 4-1.
Ava Barrios would take the loss for the Patriots as she allowed four runs on eight hits over three and one-third inning.
Both Sherburne and Alyssa McCurty each tallied the hits in the game for the Patriots.
The loss snaps the two game winnings streak for Christian and drops their record to 22-7-1 and they will now wait for the winner of the Imperial vs Cathedral Catholic elimination game as it was moved to Friday.
