Stowe stepped down as softball coach following the 2006 season, serving as an athletics adminstraot rfor twodecades.

Valenzuela joined the Eagles as basketball coach — for both genders —
closed his stint as boys coach in 2011 after placing among the top two teams inleague play for five consecutive season .
Many Imperial Valley observors report that Valenzuela is more than just the leader of the Eagles. He often allowsd the school to host events slated for other schools.

Among the nuetral siute events included allowing Palo Verde Valley Hig of Blythe (among other schools) to “host” opponents from San Diego County to greatly reduce travel expenses.

Talk about a scheduling nightmare, yet Valenzuela proceeds with few issues.

Anessa Carroll

LEMON GROVE — It’s a family affair our of Monte Vista High after Monarchs athletics administrator Anessa Carroll won named one of the two Athletic Directos of the Year by the CIF-San Diego Section.

Carroll shared the award with Andrew Clark of San Pasqual.

Carroll is among a pair of firsts for the award, annually presented by Mission Federal Credit Union.

Monte Vista also became the first CIFSDS school to be twice honored.

“I, obviously, have to give credit to Monte Vista’s coaches who make coaching look easy,” said Caroll.

“Our coaches, for the most part, don’t manage athletes, they develop athletes. Sure, a lot of our kids come to us with raw talent, and that’s great, but some don’t.”

“Our teams are out there every day learning fundamentals, building stamina and growing knowledge of the game.”

The game plan has led to success in Grossmont Valley League competition.

“We won four league titles last,” noting titles in four boys sports” wrestling, spccer, track and volleyba;.”Suck success isn’t luck or recruiting. It’s work.”

“But, the best part of my job is the kids,” Caropll added. “Our student-athletes are truly amazing! ”

“All our kids show up, work hard, and keep pushing forward, usually without the recognition they deserve.”

“Best of all, they make me laugh, they are gritty and genuine, they are great to be around. We have a strong, supportive community, and I truly love our kids and families. I’m proud to serve them as their A.D.”

Carroll. the first female A.D. st Monte Vista, is also the leader to expansion of the athletic program.

“I’m excited to be the A.D. who brings flag football to our campus and bring school history.”

“Glenn King will be our head coach and I’m really excited to see how it goes.”
