El Cap ‘Vaq Attack’ ‘rattles off’ 47 points

2025 EAST COUNTY GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL

ECS staff report

LAKESIDE – The short history of El Capitan girls flag football may be brief — just six contests — but it may take many years to better the start to their inaugural season.

On Thursday (Aug. 28), the Vaq Attack” rolled up 47 points — the second-highest in Grossmont Conference history — in order to shake, rattle and roll the Canyon Hills Rattlers, 47-6, in non-league action at El Capitan Stadium.

The 47 points is second only to the 51 stacked up by Steele Canyon in its 2024 debut season, trouncing Orange Glen in an early-season tournament contest, 51-0.

The Vaqueros (5-1 overall) have mounted a 5-game winning streak after dropping its first-ever contest against a non-Diego Section opponent in the opener.

In the current win streak, the ballclub has posted 147 points — nearly 30 per outing.

How string is the scoring rate? Since the El Capitan boys football team played for the state championship in 2014, they have managed a 30-Ppoint average in a season just once.

The 47 points in also a conference mark for August.
