ECS staff report

Scoring for Granite Hills was Yoselin Garcia (3) and Amy Franco (1).
EL CAJON — A touch of Hispanic flare contributing to teammates singing “Happy Birthday,” Granite Hills junior Amy Franco did her own version of the “Cha-cha-cha,” on the field Tuesday (Sept. 23), scoring the game-wining goal in the Eagles’ 2-0 shutout of visiting Hilltop at Valley Stadium.
Franco, who turned 17, rallied a first-goal to move in front of the Lancers.
In the second half, Yoselin Garcia scored from 6-feet out on the left side of the net for a 2-0 cushion.
Meanwhuile, the Eagles defense did not allow a shot on goal by Hilltop, allowing goalie Kalani Capal to register the easy shutout.
The victory was a nice bounce back for Granite Hills (1-1) after dropping its season opener to Helix, 6-0, onMonday. Hilltop drops to 1-4. The Lancers travel to Patrick Henry (2-5) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.for their back-to-back contests.
Meanwhile, Helix, 3-4 following a slow start, seeks to extend its 2-game win streak at Otay Ranch on Friday at 7 p.m.
