LAKEIDE (3-11-26) – El Capitan Vaqueros hurler Addison Higuera displayed quite the dominance in the circle on Wednesday afternoon as she shut down the visiting Ramona Bulldogs by a score of 6-0 and only one hit in the contest.

Offensively for the Vaqueros the bottom of the lineup came through on the day as Brynlie Ford, Gwen Hill, and Cassidy Sterling combined for four of the teams eight hits on the day. They each scored a run with Sterling and Hill each going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning the Vaqueros added to their lead thanks to Sofia Simone and Ciara Bernardini who both drove in runs in the inning to give them a 3-0 lead.

Higuera who dominated in the circle with her complete game victory also helped out her own cause as she drove in a pair of runs with her two run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Her pitching dominance included only one walk while striking out six on the day.

El Capitan with the bounce back win moves to 4-2 on the season and will next take on the Eastlake Titans.

RANCHO BUENA VISTA 2, PATRICK HENRY 1 – A pair of late runs by the home team Longhorns were the difference as they squeaked out the victory in the pitchers duel on Wednesday afternoon.

Scoreless going into the top of the fourth the Patrick Henry Patriots broke through thanks to Stephanie La who led the team with a pair of doubles on the day doubled to center field to bring home Whitley Swain to make it 1-0.

Unfortunately in the bottom of the sixth inning the Longhorns would take advantage of an error by the Patriots along with a single which would both lead to runs being scored and give them a 2-1 lead.

Megan Radar who drew the start for Patrick Henry would take the hard luck loss on the day as she allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits over five and one third of an inning.

Patrick Henry is now 3-3-1 on the season and will next take on Granite Hills on March 16th.

TORREY PINES 9, WEST HILLS 8 – Trailing by seven runs after four innings of play a frantic rally with eight runs scored over the final three innings leads to a huge comeback on the road for the Torrey Pines Falcons on Wednesday afternoon.

Early on the Falcons would lead 1-0 after an inning and a half in which the Wolf Pack would manage to swing the momentum their way starting with Addison Nuzzo who tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single.

West Hills would grab a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a fielder’s choice by Lilyana Brzeczek.

However, the bats would really come alive in the bottom of the fourth inning as they would score six runs to lead 8-1. Maddie Aylesbury doubled in a pair of runs, Katy Spargo doubled in a run, Sophia Zayac drove in a run, Lili Leija drove in a run, and Nuzzo drove in a run.

Torrey Pines would cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth inning on two-run home run to center field by Sofia Calderon.

They would then really change the game taking advantage of their opportunities in the top of the seventh as pushed across five runs on four hits to take a 9-8 lead.

West Hills with the loss falls to 4-3 and will next take on the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at home on Friday the 13th.

MT. CARMEL 10, SANTANA 4 – The visiting Santana Sultans despite accruing 10 hits on the day could only manage a small run output in the fourth inning as the Sun Devils stymied their offense the rest of the way on Wednesday.

Leading the hit attack for the Sultans were Samantha Mora and Brynn Warren who combined for six of the 10 hits as each went 3-for-4 on the day at the plate.

Kaylee Lindahl drove in a pair of runs for the Sultans while Alyssa Cipro and Paityn Miller each collected a pair of hits and drove in a run.
