Tyson Bobo
Patrick Henry 12, at Helix 0
LA MESA — In a season with professional scots stating that the level of top pitching in San Diego County may be as fine as ever, Patrick Henry senior Tyson Bobo continues to shine.
Bobo carried a no-hitter ito the seventh inning, exiting one out short when the Highlanders recorded an infield single, leading the Patriots to a 12-0 decision in Friday’s (Mar. 20) tournament ballgame.
Tyson retired the first six Scotties batters, three on called strikes.
In the third, the perfect game ended on a lead walk. Later, a second walk and a double steal gave Helix its best opportunity to score, but Bobo escaped with another strikeout on a called third strike.
In the seventh, with a runner at first, Helix middle infielder Jake Johnson sen t a ground ball up the middle. Patriots shortstop Lukas Oquendo knocked down the ball but had no play at first base,so he tried to scoop the ball to registered the no-no clinching out on a force play at second, but just missed.
The play could’ve been a highlight candidate of the year if executed, but Bobo had plenty of key play behind him.
Before he took the mound,Bob hgeld a 2-0 lead on a 2-run homer run by Ian Brooks just to the right of straight-away center field. Courtesy of 93-degree game time temperatures and the slightest of breezes from left-to-right allowed thre shot to carry over the fence.
Patrick Henry would do the same over the next two innings: Sal Gagliano bombed a 2-run triple in the second, then Jimmy Gunn drilled a 2-run ho,er in the third, when the Pats eventually scored three times to mount a 7-0 cushion.
Bobo finished with 12 strikeouts and walked three, running his to 2-0 for Patrick Henry (5-2). The senior earlier fired a complete-game shutout at Mt.Carmel.
Alex Mestman added three hits, with a run and an RBI for Patrick Henry (5-2).
Helix, which just handed previously unbeaten Cathedral Catholic its first setback, moved to 5-3 overall.

Edito;s Note: In Bobo’s effort at Nt. Carmel, new scorekeepers did not inoput the stats corectly; it is now listed as a 3-hit shutout instead of a no-hitter.
