Hillers Take Advantage Of Opportunities In Win

EL CAJON (3-24-26) – Seven runs scored in the third inning leads to a convincing 12-0 non-league victory for the Grossmont Foothillers on Tuesday afternoon over Santa Fe Christian.

The game deciding third inning all seven runs scored by Grossmont without a single hit in the inning as they took advantage of nine walks and a hit by pitch.

Walks by Alyanna Vega, Saraya Roope, Busch, and Alexis Holman all led to runs scoring for the Hillers.

The Foothillers prior to their big inning would strike first thanks to Drew Winchester who drove in a run in the bottom of the first inning with a single and Sahara Roope would successfully steal home to make it 2-0.

Grossmont would extend their lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning thanks to both Busch and Roope.

Roope picked up the win for the Hillers as she allowed no runs on one hit over three innings in which she walked one and struck out four.

Offensively, Busch led Grossmont at the plate as she went 2-for-2 including three runs scored and an RBI.

With the victory the Grossmont Foothillers have won four in a row and move to 7-2-1 on the season.

 

SCRIPPS RANCH 9, STEELE CANYON 8 – After trailing for the majority of the game a pair of singles in the bottom of the seventh innings lead to a walk-off win by the Falcons on Tuesday afternoon over the visiting Cougars in non-league action.

Despite outhitting the home team Falcons by a tally of 10 to eight it wasn’t enough despite the efforts of Izabella Thomas who led the way with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.

Steele Canyon early on would claw their way to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to Ariana Agnotti who drew a walk that allowed a run to score, Payton Sos would knock in a run on a double to center field and Kallan Shaw scored on a wild pitch.

The Cougars would tack onto their early lead in the top of the third inning thanks to Kayala Hopkins who walked and Sophia Jackel who singled of which both led to runs scoring.

Scripps Ranch would rally all the way back with six runs over latter innings to take a 7-6 lead which was followed by Agnotti singling in the go-ahead run to make it 8-7.

Belle Will who started for the Cougars went four innings in which she allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits while walking three and striking out four.

The loss snaps the six game winning streak by the Cougars and now gives them a 7-5 overall record.

 

POINT LOMA 7, EL CAPITAN 2 – A seven run sixth inning by the home team Pointers dooms the visiting El Capitan Vaqueros in tournament action on Tuesday evening.

Isabella Farris of the Vaqueros would do the run damage as she would drive in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. She would again strike in the top of the third inning with another RBI single.

Makenna Burton drew the start for the Vaqueros and unfortunately would be saddled with the loss. On the evening she allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over six innings in which she walked two and struck out three.

 

DEL NORTE 5, WEST HILLS 2 – Despite outhitting the visiting Del Norte Nighthawks by a tally of 7-5 the Wolf Pack still fell on Tuesday afternoon.

Both Maddie Aylesbury and Addison Nuzzo combined for 4-for-7 on the day at the plate as they both collected a pair of hits.

West Hills would score the first run of the game thanks to Sophia Zayac who singled in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-0.

Later in the third inning the Wolf Pack would break a 1-1 tie thanks to Aylesbury who doubled in a run to make it 2-1.

Ayslesbury would get the start for West Hills. On the day she would allow four runs (two earned) on five hits over seven innings in which she walked two and struck out seven.

The Pack with the loss have dropped two in a row and fall to 4-6 on the season.

 

RANCHO BERNARDO 7, CHRISTIAN 0 – Seven runs scored over the first four innings of the contest give the Broncos a convincing tournament win on Tuesday afternoon.

Christian on the day at the plate was limited to only three hits in the ball game.

The Patriots on the season overall are now 7-7-1.
