Wed., Mar. 25
Granite Hills 5, Patrick Henry 4  STORY HERE

El Capitan 9, Mission Bay 8
At Pacific Beah (Dennis Pugh Field): Down 6-0 after the first inning, the Vaqueros posted their second major comeback in as many contests. They scored seven times in the fifth, then survived a late rally by the Buccaneers.

Matthew Eckis batted 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs to ignite the comeback.

Santana 9, San Diego HS 6
Under the flight/landing pattern of Lindbergh Field: The Sultans (4-6) are starting to put the pieces together, winning for the second time in three starts by flyting over the host Cavers.

The future looks bright as a pair of underclassmen paced Santana in hitting, as sophomore Gregory Ryan and freshman Landon Braaksma both drove in a pair of runs. Braskama and Landon Braaksma (another frosh) also posted two hiys each.

The Sultans mounted a 9-0 cushion by the fourth inning, Three relievers then hung on to save thegame for Micah Carillo, who fired four shutout innings of 3-hit ball.

Clairemont 8, West Hills 2
At “Ridgemont High:” The bats of the winless Wolf Pack (0-7)continue t struggle. They did score a pair of early unearned runs , but the Chieftains (changing to Captains this fall) rallied with eight unanswered run to win.

Clairemont (10-1) to off to its best start this century. West Hills has scored just 14 runs (6 earned) this season,the lowest among Grossmont Valley League programs (ECVHS 24, MMHS 30).

Coronado 6, Helix 4
At La Mesa: Trailing 4-0, the Islanders rallied to pull even, hen scored twice in the sixth inning to sink the Scotties.

Coronado (5-8) snapped a 5-game losing skid, handing Helix (5-5) its secondstaright setback since downing Cathedral Catholic.

For the Scotties, Romeo Briones knocked in three runs, including an early 2-run homer.

La Jolla 6, Steele Canyon 5 (8 inn.)
At Muirlands Middle School: The Cougars battled back from down 3-1 to force extra innings, then scored in ther eighth for their first lead of the contest. However, East County’s bullpen woes continued when the Vikings (4-6) scored twice two in in walk-off fashion.

For Steele Canyon (2-8), which dropped its fifth straight, Caha Gavin stroked 2-run double,

LJCDS 6, Christian 5
At the green field on Greenfield: The visiting Torreys allowed 10 hits, walked/hit three batters and committed five errors, but the Patriots  found few clutch hits in falling, 6-5, to La Jolla Country Day/

Three runs in the fifth were enough to grab a 6-4 lead before the Torreys (7-5) hung on.

For Christian (5-4-1), Caleb Brierley blasted a 2-run homer for the early lead.Broer;ey registered two hits while Benji Molina paced the Pats with three basehits to raise his batting average to .517 thanks to a season-long 10-game hitting streak– tops in the East County.

Mira Mesa 7, Grossmont 6 (walk-off)
At Mira NesaL In a battle of ballclubs with identical records, the bullpen woes of the Foothillers (4-6) continued ater the host Marauders (5-5) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh.

For Grossmont, Colton Burke batted 3-for-3 and scored a run, Logan Struck recorded two hits, but the rest of the lineup mustered just one additional hit.

University City 7, Valhalla 2
At University City: Wouldn’t you know it@ Valhalla posted its second-best pitching performance of the season, but the bats of the Norsemen (1-9) went silent.

Tue., Mar. 24
Foothills Christian 4, Coastal 1
At Matt Lachappafield, Lakeside: The host Knights were out-hit by the Stingrays, but pitcher J.J. Granillo carried a shutout into the sixth inning to capture Tuesday’s (Mar. 24) Pacific League contest.

Coastal (9-2 overall) remains in first place at 3-1, but Foothills Christian (9-3) moved within a half-game, tied for second with Francis W. Parker at 2-1.

Granillo struck out five Coastal batters, then “Captain” Jack Morgan entered to closed the victory, registering two of his three outs on strikes.

Knights freshman Anthony Garcia joined Morgan and Granillo by stroking RBI singles.

Monte Vista 10, Chula Vista 0
At Spring Valley: Monte Vista junor Michael Ortiz again demonstrated he may well be the most outstanding hurlers in the Grossmont Valley League this season after firing a 3-shit shutout against the visiting Spartans.

Ortiz ,ho struck out eight Chula Vista battersm ran his record to 3-0 with his second shutout of the season. His earned-run average fell to a stellar 1,40.

The Monarchs erupted with three runs in the first, then added five additional markers in the third to mound an 8-0 advantage.

On offense, Adrian Gutierrez belted a 3-run homer among his two hits, while Gujuan Smith and Ortiz added two RBI.

Canyon Hill(s) 22, El Cajon Valley 1
At Tierrasanta: The visiting Braves quickly grabbed a 1-0 on an line single up the middle by Alwz Vargas (scoring was Daniel Felix, who had two hits), but the Rattlers answered with 10 runs in the home-half of the first inning.

Castle Park 12, Mount Miguel 5
At Chula Vista: The “C-Park” Trojans are off to a 4-6 start after downing the viiting Matadsors (1-8).

Victory Christian 18, Julian 8 (5 inn.)
At Chula Vista: The host Knights needed just five innings to stop the Eagles.

Ramona 8,Escondido 2
|Up on “the hill”: In a battle of former Valley League rivals — Ramona was promoted to the Avocado League –the Bulldogs tallied four times in the sixth inning to pull ay from the Escodido Cougars, 8-2, Onday *Mar. 23).

\The Dawgs remain undefeated through seven ballgames.

Ramona first baseman Zack Nightingale doubled twice and scored each time, as the Dawgs scored in each of their final four trips to the plate to overcome an early 2-1 deficit.

SAfter a brief hiccup in the first inning, pitcher Alex Wilson finished strong, allowing just two runs (one earned) over his five innings. Wilson struck out seven Cougars batters.

Another senior in Justin Jarrett recorded the save. Jarrett finished off Escondido with four more whiffs, giving Ramona a pitchers 11 Ks on the afternoon.

On offense, corner out fielders Noah Bedia (left) and Connor Schwettmann (right) each registered a pair of RBO singles, with Bedia eventually scoring twice’ Schwettmann stole a base.
