Saturday Update: On Day 3
Seiley captured the women’s 100 free state title, finishing in a near-state meet record clocking of 50.97 seconds to give her two state titles.

SANTA ROSA – You can simply describe it the ultimate in performances in community college athletics covering any sport. If it was basketball, one could even call it a “double-double.”
Grossmont College swimmer Camille Seiley, a product Steele Canyon High, repeated as the California state sprint champion, capturing the 50 free in 23.16 seconds – a new state meet record clocking.
The mark was set on Thursday (May 1) on the first of three days of the state championshuips, held at Santa Rosa Junior College, just north of San Francisco.
Seiley out-paced the competition by more than a half-second — a mammoth amout of time in a sprint –defeatign runner-up Caitlin Wham of American River College of Sacramento (23.72).
American River kater set a meet record in taking the men’s 400 medley relay.
In addition to Seiley’s success “in the tank,” the sophomore was named to the state All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.
Thus, Seiley received several scholarship offers, electing to accept the offer to continue her student-athlete career at San Diego State next school year.
The other medalist fromn Grossmont was Maya Garcia-Hale, who earned silver in the women’s 500 free in 5:10.26.
Garcia-Hale, who prepped at Helix High, was also a CIF[San Diego Section Division 1 champion in the same event.
Over the 3-day event (May 1-3), the meet produced an impressive 12 state meet records.
Sierra College won ts fifth consecutive men’s team title. Mt. San Antonio took it’s first-evcer women’s crown. Grossmont’s wimen finished in 11th place.
