Junior Donte Wright added 156 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while senior Jordan Lindley contributed another score.

Helix wasted no time taking control, scoring three times in the opening quarter.

El Capitan (4-4, 0-2 GHL) found its rhythm behind sophomore quarterback Hayden Passanisi, who threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns. He connected twice with senior Micah Clark for first-half scores, helping the Vaqueros keep the game within reach at 27-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Helix’s defense took command.

Sophomore Jeremy Robinson intercepted a pass, and Wright followed with another interception minutes later. Wright also finished the next offensive possession with a touchdown run to push the lead to 34-14.

El Capitan recovered a Helix fumble in the fourth quarter and converted it into their third touchdown of the night, cutting the deficit to 34-21.

But Helix responded with a fourth-quarter touchdown run from Norman-Lester, his third of the night, sealing the 41-21 final.

The Highlanders’ defense limited El Capitan to just 17 rushing yards on eight carries and recorded two interceptions and one sack.

Both programs now turn their attention to Granite Hills.
