Grossmont 37, Glendale 17
El Cajon | 11/8/2025 – Grossmont College secured a Beach Bowl bid with a convincing 37-17 win over Glendale, propelled by a dominant second-half performance and a balanced offensive attack.
Quarterback Melvin Spicer IV led the charge, completing 15 of 26 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair to Ayden Billups.
Running back Darick Dubose Jr., out of El Cajon Valley High, added 167 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, while Spicer also ran for a score himself.
After Glendale opened the scoring with a field goal and a touchdown pass in the first quarter, Grossmont responded with an early Spicer-to-Billups connection to take a 7-3 lead.
The second quarter belonged to the Griffins, who scored twice, including a 13-yard TD pass to Isaac Syph, taking a 21-10 halftime advantage.
Grossmont extended its lead in the third quarter with Billups’ second touchdown reception and Spicer’s short run. Glendale managed a late touchdown in the fourth, but Christopher Osorio’s 23-yard field goal sealed the 37-17 victory.
Grossmont dominated in total offense (459 yards vs. 214), time of possession (36:08 to 23:05), and efficiency on third down (63%).
Defensively, the Griffins pressured Glendale QB Christian Breazeale into a single interception and limited the Lions’ rushing attack to just 58 yards.
With the win, Grossmont finishes 6-4 overall, 2-3 in the American-Pacific League, and will face West Los Angeles College in the Beach Bowl on Nov. 22.
Southwestern 27, Chaffey 14
Chula Vista | 11/8/2025 – Southwestern completed a remarkable turnaround season under second-year head coach Oscar Rodriguez Jr., defeating Chaffey 27-14 at DeVore Stadium.
The Jaguars overcame an early deficit, responding after a Chaffey touchdown with a 6-yard strike from Brayten Silbor to Josiah Jefferson.
Southwestern’s special teams made a difference with Davondre Bucannon returning a kickoff 15 yards to set up a score, and kicker Jacob Cuevas adding two field goals.
The Jaguars’ running back Caleb Blocker finished with 109 yards on 11 carries, including a 33-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The Jaguars totaled 274 yards of offense, and the defense pressured Chaffey with four sacks and 17 tackles for loss.
Southwestern improved to 7-3 overall, 4-3 in the National-Southern League, capping an impressive season after finishing winless in conference last year.
