EL CAJON (3-10-26) – A combined shut out by Granite Hills pitchers Allie Amison and Siena Healy lead to a 6-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon over Our Lady of Peace Pilots , Lea Montoya
Eagles hurler Amison who drew the start tossed five innings in which she allowed five hits while striking out three to pick up the win, Healy who came in and finished things off struck out three over two innings in which she didn’t allow a hit.
Not only did the strong combined pitching contribute in the victory but also the offense as the bats of the Eagles tallied six hits in the contest.
Leading the way for Granite Hills at the plate was Taylor Nash who doubled and homered in her 2-for-3 day in which she scored a run and drove in four. Also, contributing was Olivia Cirar who went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and drove in a run and scored twice and stole a base.
Nash would drive in the first run when she hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. She would add to that in the bottom off the third inning with a solo home run to left field.
Also, pacing the Eagles was Jazlyn Thomas who drew three walks.
With the victory the Granite Hills Eagles improve to 2-3 overall.
HELIX 5, MAR VISTA 0 – On Tuesday afternoon the Helix Highlanders traveled down to the South Bay and came away with the shutout victory to keep their undefeated record intact and remain an early season contender.
Vivie Munoz who started for Helix picked up the win as she tossed four innings in which she allowed no runs on two hits while walking four and striking out three, Lea Montoya who came into the game in relief finished things as she finished the final three innings in which she allowed no runs on one hit while walking two and striking out two.
Offensively for the Highlanders Naleia Medina led the charge as she went 3-for-3 at the plate while scoring a pair of runs and driving in a run. She also doubled and stole a base.
Logan McMahon led Helix with a pair of runs batted in as she cleaned up from the eight spot in the lineup.
Helix with the win moves their record to 7-0 on the season and will next take on the Eastlake Titans.
TORREY PINES 7, EL CAPITAN 6 – Despite outhitting the home team on the day the visiting El Capitan Vaqueros couldn’t rally after tying the game up late as they dropped a heartbreaking road decision on Tuesday afternoon.
Early on things looked great for the visiting Vaqueros thanks to Addison Higuera who in the top of the first inning drove in the first run to lead 1-0.
However, the momentum wouldn’t last as Torrey Pines in the bottom of the first inning would push across a pair of runs on sacrifice flies to lead 2-1.
The Falcons would extend their lead in the bottom of the second inning with another run to lead 3-1.
Later in the contest trailing by a score of 4-1 the Vaqueros would tie the game up in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a double by Mckenzie Passanisi, a sacrifice fly by Cassidy Sterling, and an RBI single by Sofia Simone.
Despite the comeback the momentum again swung the way of the Falcons in the bottom of the inning thanks to a three run double to retake the lead 7-4.
Passanisi drew the start for the Vaqueros. On the day she allowed four hits and four runs (two earned) over four and one-third innings while walking two and striking out two.
Ciara Bernarrdini led at the plate for the Vaqueros as she tallied three hits in four at-bats and scored a pair of runs.
