Cougars Romp Visiting Eagles In Great Fashion

SPRING VALLEY (3-19-26) – Revenge is a always said to be a dish served cold and that is exactly what the Steele Canyon Cougars dished out on Thursday afternoon as they convincingly won their tournament contest 9-1 against the visiting El Centro Southwest Eagles.

Southwest EC defeated the Cougars in the previous contest they met.

This time however the Steele Canyon Cougar pitching duo of Belle Will and Delaney Shamaya combined for 12 strikeouts in the victory.

Will who picked up the win went 4 innings in which she allowed two hits while walking one and striking out 7, Shamaya came in and tossed 2.2 innings in which she allowed one run which was earned on three hits while striking out five.

Offensively the bats of the Cougars tallied 12 hits of which Payton Sos registered three of them as they went 3-for-4 on the day at the plate. Her day also included driving in a pair of runs and scoring twice along with swiping two bags.

Other contributors were Ily Barclay who went 2-for-3 and scored a run along with a triple, Makenzie Meyer drove in a pair of runs and Ariana Angotti who like Sos tallied a 3-for-4 day which included a run scored.

Danika Lakin also doubled in the contest.

Steele Canyon moves to 5-4 on the season and now have won three games by more than five runs and also are now winners of four in a row.

The Cougars will next play Westview on Saturday at 11 AM.

 

CHRISTIAN 8, TRABUCO HILLS 2 – Scoring a season high in runs which included a pair of long balls leads to a big tournament victory on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the day for the Patriots.

Christian sluggers Samantha Baca and Keeleyana Carrizosa combined on the day to drive in 7 of the 8 runs of the Patriots. Baca on the day would drive in five runs including a three run blast in the bottom of the first inning. Her day at the plate included a perfect 3-for-3 day including a pair of doubles. Carrizosa would belt a two-run bomb in the bottom of the second inning enroute to a 2-for3 day at the plate which included a run scored.

The Patriots would extend their lead in the third inning courtesy of Pressly Villalva and Baca who both doubled in runs.

Ava Barrrios earned the win for the Patriots as she allowed one run (zero earned) on no hits over three innings in which she walked seven and struck out one.

Later the Christian Patriots in their second game of the day would drop a 2-1 decision to Mission Viejo. The Patriots despite outhitting the Diablos would commit six errors.

Christian is now 5-4-1 on the season.

 

SANTANA 15, CANYON HILLS 0 (5 INN.) – Big fourth inning which included eight runs scored leads to the convincing victory on the Thursday for the Sultans over the Rattlers.

Kylee Aziz really spurred things as she scored a career high four runs while going 1-for-2 and swiping a pair of bases and a double. Her teammate Samantha Mora led the day as she tallied three hits in four at-bats while driving in a pair of runs and scoring a run.

Another contributor for the Sultans was Bryleigh Britza who went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs.

Ashlyn Darrow would drive in the first run of the game for Santana, Vanessa Ryan would add another run in the second inning to make it 2-0.

The Sultans would extend their lead in the top of the third inning thanks to Alyssa Cipro and Gabby Sneddon who each drove in a runs.

Alexis Buquet who drew the start for Santana earned the victory. On the day she gave up three hits and no runs over five innings of work. She also struck out seven.

Santana now improves to 5-7 on the season.

 

CARMEL 10, WEST HLLS 1 – Tough outing for the West Hills Wolf Pack as they were limited to only three hits on the day in the road loss.
