POWAY (3-25-26) – Despite being outhit by a 5-4 tally the visiting Patrick Henry Patriots who came into the contest unranked took advantage of an error to claim the 1-0 road victory over the Poway Titans on Wednesday afternoon.

Pitching wise for the visiting Patriots it was Teagan Forbes who spun an impressive attack as she allowed no runs on five hits in the complete game victory in which she only walked two and fanned eight Titans.

The only run of the contest would come in the top of the fourth inning with two outs when Stephanie La would score on an error by Poway to make it 1-0.

Forbes would make the one run stand up for Patrick Henry as she would only allow three hits the rest of the way with the only challenge coming in the bottom of the seventh inning when Poway would put runners on first and second with two outs before Forbes would strike out the next batter to end the game and seal the victory.

Offensively, for the Patriots it was La, Julia Grobe, Whitley Swain who doubled in the game, and Emily Caddy who each collected hits on the day.

Poway who came into the contest 12th in the Union Tribune’s weekly rankings couldn’t take advantage of anything and in the contest would commit three errors of which the one would be costly.

Patrick Henry with the big win snaps their two game losing streak and improves to 5-5-1.

The Patriots will next take on Scripps Ranch on Thursday afternoon.
