EAST COUNTY GIRLS SET FOR CIF-SDS LACROSSE PLAYOFFS

EastCountySports.com staff report

The CIF San Diego Section girls lacrosse playoffs begin this week, with postseason play across four divisions — Open Division, Division I, Division II, and Division III.

First-round games are set for May 5–6, with championship contests scheduled for May 15–16.

From an East County standpoint, the field features a mix of developing programs, competitive mid-tier teams, and strong Division III contenders, with several key first-round matchups shaping the outlook.

DIVISION I: PATRICK HENRY LEADS EAST COUNTY ENTRY

The Patrick Henry Patriots represent East County in Division I as the No. 9 seed and No. 14-ranked team, opening against No. 8 Poway.

Despite the record (7–13), the Patriots’ ranking suggests a team capable of competing in what appears to be a balanced first-round matchup.

DIVISION II: GRANITE HILLS HITS THE ROAD

The Granite Hills Eagles (7–8) enter Division II as the No. 11 seed, traveling to face No. 6 Mira Mesa.

The Eagles face a road test but remain competitive within a division that lacks a clear dominant favorite beyond the top seeds.

DIVISION III: EAST COUNTY DEPTH HEADLINES BRACKET

Division III provides the strongest East County presence, led by multiple teams with favorable positioning.

The Grossmont Foothillers stands out at 15–1 and enters as the No. 5 seed , hosting Clairemont in the opening round.

Santana Sultans (9–9) hosts Lincoln as the No. 8 seed, while West Hills Wolf Pack (7–13) travels to Bonita Vista.

With multiple entries and strong records at the top, Division III presents East County’s best opportunity to advance deep into the bracket.

OUTLOOK: DEPTH IN D3, OPPORTUNITY ELSEWHERE

East County’s playoff outlook is driven by depth in Division III and competitive matchups elsewhere:

  • Grossmont (15–1) — top East County contender overall
  • Patrick Henry (No. 14 in county) — competitive D1 matchup
  • Granite Hills — road test in Division II
  • Santana / West Hills — multiple entries in Division III

With several teams positioned to compete early and depth in the lower divisions, East County programs will look to make their mark throughout the CIF-SDS girls postseason.
