Kyle Stowers homers for Miami
EastCountySports.com staff report
PHILADELPHIA — Former Christian High School standout Kyle Stowers reached another milestone in his major league career Wednesday, blasting the first two-homer game of his big-league tenure while driving in five runs to lead the Miami Marlins to a 12-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wed., June 17.
Stowers, who missed time earlier this season due to injury, continued his strong resurgence by accounting for five runs batted in while helping Miami avoid a three-game series sweep.
The East County product wasted little time making an impact, launching a two-run homer in the opening inning off Philadelphia rookie Andrew Painter. He later added a solo shot in the sixth inning for his seventh home run of the season.
Stowers wasn’t finished. He delivered an RBI double in the second inning and capped his evening with a run-scoring single in the eighth, finishing one of the most productive games of his professional career.
The performance marked the first multi-home run game of Stowers’ major league career and continued what has been a strong stretch since returning to the Marlins lineup. After establishing himself as an everyday player last season, the Christian High graduate has resumed his upward trajectory and remains one of Miami’s most dangerous run producers.
Stowers, a Christian High graduate who later starred at Stanford University, was selected by Baltimore in the second round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft before joining the Marlins organization.
Despite missing a portion of the season due to injury, Stowers has quickly re-established himself in Miami’s lineup. Following Wednesday’s breakout performance, the Christian High alum owns seven home runs and 27 RBI in just 190 at-bats while posting a .719 OPS.
Still just 28 years old, Stowers continues to flash the power that made him one of baseball’s top prospects, and his recent surge suggests the East County product may be rounding into the best stretch of his 2026 campaign.
With his latest breakout performance, the East County alum continues to build on what is shaping up to be one of the most productive seasons of his major league career.
