Oray’s two goals lead Hawks over Soka

SANTEE – Vivian Oray scored two first-half goals and Alejandra Gonzalezadded one late in the second half to guide the San Diego Christian women’s soccer team past Soka, 3-0, Saturday.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-1-1 on the season. Soka falls to 2-3.

Oray scored just three minutes into the contest to give the Hawks a quick 1-0 lead. SDC looked to tally more in the 13th minute. Shayna Petersen-Burman fired two shots within minutes of each other, but both attempts were unsuccessful at finding the back of the net.

Oray was at it again in the 35th minute. Samantha Schmidt‘s long throw in found Oray’s head to give SDC a 2-0 lead just before half. They led by that score at the break.

The quiet second half was still dominated by the Hawks. SDC registered four shots compared to Soka’s two. The Hawks earned six corner kicks to the Lions’ 0.

Gonzalez hit a one-time shot in the 80th minute to cap all scoring in the game.

The Hawks outshot the Lions 10-3. Katherine Koury collected two saves in the 90 minutes for her third shutout of the year.

SDC will welcome Providence Christian on Wednesday in their next game. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
