EL CAJON (1-23-16) — In a contest that was never really in doubt from start to finish the fifth-ranked Palomar Comets traveled inland to take on the Grossmont College Griffins in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action and rolled to a 90-51 victory on Friday night (Jan. 22).

Led by four players that scored in double digits, the Comets put the contest away in the first few minutes and led 28-7 after the first quarter. Things didn’t get any better for the Griffins as they surrendered 23 in the second quarter and trailed 51-15 at the break.

The Griffins were led in scoring by the duo of JOANNA DELA CRUZ who scored 10 points including three treys and JUSTINE GARDE who scored 13 including three of her own threes.

The Comets came into the contest averaging about 75 points a game and had scored close to 90 the previous two contests. They almost scored 100 against the Griffins and could have had they not run out of time.

The one positive for the Griffins was the fact that they were able to outscore the Comets in the fourth quarter 17-16.
