EL CAJON (2-20-16) — The Christian Patriots saved the best for last as they came out and played one heck of a game against the Madison Warhawks in Central League play, Friday (Feb.19).

The Patriots tied their highest point outcome of the season as they won 55-43, despite playing without their season leading scorer, MARISSA GILES who was ill with a 103 degree temperature. The Patriots had previously scored 55 against Lutheran earlier in the season.

At the outset things didn’t go the Patriots way as they trailed 13-9 after one period of play.  However things changed in the second quarter as Christian revved up the offense as they poured in 15 points as a team to lead 24-22 at the break.

Leading the offensive charge were SAGE SALACUP who scorched her way to 22 points including three treys, and her scoring partner BROOKE OWENS who drilled in 21 points including 4 treys. Both also had a well-rounded stat line on the night as Salacup grabbed 8 boards and had 6 thefts. Owens rounded out her line with 5 boards, dished out 5 assists and swatted 2 on the night.  They had help on the glass as HAYLEY ROBINSON monster corralled in 10 caroms.

The balanced scoring led the Patriots to pull away in the third period as they were able to outscore the Warhawks 18-8 to lead 42-30.

Christian: Sage Salacup 22 (8 reb, 1 ast, 6 stl), Brooke Owens 21 (5 reb, 5 ast, 2 blk), Jasmyn Crawford 8 (2 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl), Hayley Robinson 2 (10 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl), Alyssa Rothrock 2 (5 reb, 1 ast), Taylor Giese (1 ast, 1 stl), Wendy Shen (1 reb).
