CHULA VISTA – The Sultans led 28-0 less than 10 minutes into the game and coasted to their first victory of the season, demolishing the host Castle Park Trojans, 42-0, as junior quarterback JOSH OEDEWALDT threw for five touchdowns, including three to receiver ANDERS TOLHURST.

Running back BOBBY WALLACE, with his 57 yards (on 13 carries), moved into 2nd all-time on the Sultans’ career rushing list with 1902 yards. He only needs 335 more yards to break the record set by JERRAD SCHNAUTZ from 2001-02 with 2236.

Wallace also rushed for a touchdown.

Oedewaldt, with his 5 TDs, tied D.J. BUSCH, who in 1999, did it twice, and COLLIN TAYLOR, who did it three times in 2006. Taylor did it three times that year for 2nd on the all-time list for TD passes in a single game.

Oedewaldt was just 6-for-10 throwing in the contest, which makes the five touchdown passes even more impressive.

His first score to Tolhurst was just a quick-hitter on an inside slant that saw the receiver just knock over the would-be defender with a strong shot to the shoulder pads for a 24-yard score.

Oedewaldt later would find Tolhurst on a QB waggle when he faked a flip to the senior, who toe’d the left sideline of the end zone for a 6-yard score to help Santana extend to a 21-0 lead.

Later in the game, ONI SABANDIT came in to finish up at quarterback and went 4-for-5 for 68 yards.

Senior receiver BROCK ELLIS finished with three receptions for 60 yards for the Sultans, including a touchdown. Ellis made a leaping catch around the 7-yard line to complete a 27-yard score.

Senior AIDEN RASMUSSEN also hauled in a touchdown pass from Oedewaldt.

Ellis and senior JUSTIN GEE both recorded interceptions for the Sultans. Junior LATRELL BROWN led all Santana tacklers with four.

It was a big night for the Sultans’ big men up front, as they had their way with the Trojans. Seniors BRYCE MARTIN, DYLAN BROWN, TRENT FORSTER, ADAM VARGO and MATTHEW WHITCOMB manhandled the Castle Park defensive line.
