SPRING VALLEY (2-2-17) — Granite Hills’ RYAN KELLY dominated the game in Wednesday’s (Feb. 1) Grossmont Valley League showdown with Mount Miguel.
The 6-foot-8 senior tallied 19 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, one steal and 3 blocks, propelling the Eagles to a last second 57-55 victory over the Matadors.
Kelly saved his heroics for the final seconds as he scored 8 points in the fourth quarter.
Granite Hills led by 12 points with 3 minutes left.
“They did a great job of coming back and tied the game with 12 seconds remaining,” said Eagles coach RANDY ANDERSON. “Kelly made a nice post move and got fouled with 5.6 seconds left. He made one free throw and missed the second.”
“It was a great back-and-forth game,” said Mount Miguel coach JAY ROWLETT. “It was a tie game with 12 second left. With 5.6 seconds left we fouled Kelly. He missed a free throw (his only miscue of the night) and we got the rebound. MIKEECE DUNBAR missed a 3 from the corner.”
CAMERON SPITZER, who played all 32 minutes, hit 6 of 12 from the floor including one trey.
One of the key players coming off the bench for Granite Hills was AARON COBB.
